A farce
by Raghu on Sep 30, 2005 06:53 PM

Indian cricket is nothing more than a farce right now. It has become a money minting institution with nothing but financial gains in sight. Now God can only save the game from the corrupt board Officials. Chappel is not God !!!

Are you A REPOPRTER or AN ASTROLOGER !
by Meghadoot Chaudhuri on Sep 30, 2005 02:28 PM

Mr.Reporter/Astrologer,

Your report has been based on at least three foolish presumptions :

1. That Mr.Greg Chappel was really truthful and honest throughout.
2. That the alleged accusations against Sourav were all true.
3. That the three ex Indian captains including Mr.Gavasker and Shastri really had some dissent over the verdict.

Mr.L, that Greg has not resigned yet in spite of virtual negation of all his charges by BCCI speaks volume of the psychology of a liar. Had he been honest enough during his ego-battle (nothing more than that) with Sourav, he would have already flown to Australia to keep his head high. Only an untruthful and dishonest person can bear such a shame. He will just wait for further chances in future to hit Sourav below the belt through backdoor-attack (like the e-mail), yielding opportunities for people like Mr.Lavakare to cash on.

One simple question - why had Greg not come out with his allegations before Sourav disclosed something to the press ? Instead, he initially made a truce, took his own time to fabricate things against Sourav and then sent the mail. A truthful and upright person would never take so much time to reveal 'simple truths'.

Indian cricket will surely pay

As long as we have people like Avi speaking up for a shameless BCCI and a cowardly captain abetted by spineless ESPN commentators, Indian cricket will continue to plumb new depths. Congrats Arvind for calling a spade a spade; the fact that even courageous journalists like you and Prem Panicker are ignored only shows the complete putrefaction of the cricket body politic.

Ganguly is the Liar
by Senthilkumar on Sep 30, 2005 11:43 AM

Ya...It's really shame to Indian Cricket & lovers of cricket. The compromise is just a temporary glue that won't stick. I'm wondering how Gangly gets more chances like this?. After a long we are getting a very talentd and intelligent coach. According to his statement, he is eyeing on 2007 world cup. That's what we need. For that we have to sacrifice some thing not useful. Ganguly is one of them. He is in very poor form that cannot be recoverable. As Chappel stated, he is unable to face bowling like bond. Also, he is repeating his mistakes in all matches. He is not a team player. A captain should lead by example. As he is unable to score, he couldn't be an example to other players. His poor decisions, many times, lead india to defeat. He is not consistent. He fails to score againt good bowling attack when team in need. For Cricket, or any kind of game, Physical fitness is very basic thing. In case of Ganguly, He is not a good runner in between the wickets, in fielding. He is unable to dive which makes the difference. He is surely mentally and physically unfit for cricket. It is the opinion of most of the Indian fans. He is the liar. Drop him for Success.

Mr. Lavarkar, are you listening? I know your kind of people don't wanna listen to others. But I would suggest you just lend me your "eyes" for a couple of minutes. In fact to talk business, this kinda replies might enhance your "fame" too among the netizens, of being the writer whose articles draw huge attention. got it?
Do you wish to clarify the following:
* What's your credentials in this Cricket industry (let's call it an industry, b'cos we know everyone makes a lot of money)? Are you a representative of common cricket lovers of India?
* Are you qualified enough to judge a critical situation properly and come to the conclusion "India will pay..." Are you a qualified analyst?
* How much do you know about the "issues" that keep on cropping up in the Indian cricket dressing room for the last few decades? So, any views on those?

India is a place where you can voice your views and express yourself. Do that, but be logical man. At least Rediff readers are well educated to make a judgement out of a given situation. They don't need your "special" views on "proven" cricketers like Ganguly & Chappel. India can do without Ganguly, but India Should do without people like you.

Ganguly in finals
by sameer on Sep 30, 2005 03:32 AM

I dont want to say anything about Ganguly in the recent spat over Chappe, because I am still a fan of Ganguly. I only want to say that Ganguly will go as the worst captain in the whole universe in the history of cricket in one day finals. How can you let 19 finals in a row. Can't you put some extra effort or motivate players to do something? This is out of limit. To make it easiers, just change the captain now for one days or in finals.

Indian cricket surely pays for bad journalism
by Dr. Gauri Shankar Guha on Sep 30, 2005 01:15 AM

I am a somewhat infrequent visitor to rediff, but have been regularly reading the cricket columns in recent times.

Whats the deal with columnist Lavakare and captain Ganguly? It seems he has more than just journalistic interest in the captain.

In the last 10 years I have followed Indian cricket only sporadically - because it is quite hard to get "live" coverage where I am. But I did follow it quite closely before that.

It seems to me, that captain Ganguly has helped to transform our team from a bunch of losers into a set of potential world beaters. Thats what good captains do. I also believe that the man has tons of runs at various levels.

This is far more than Lavakare's claim to fame. This guy seems like one of those desis that will eat a mile of a white man's sith, even if it involves tearing down an honest hard-working Indian that we should be proud of.

Indian cricket writers have rarely been aggressive when Indian players have been unfairly treated by white players.

Chill out Lavakare, do not put down a man that has taught our players to hold up their heads on foreign grounds.

Indian Cricket! I've had enough, I'll just start supporting some other team or watch other sports until Ganguly is removed from captaincy and dropped from the team.

The way Chappel is being treated, I think he should quit. India doesn't deserve a good coach like him. The BCCI might just wake up if he quits.

Ganguly should be removed from the team
by AJAY R GUDI on Sep 29, 2005 10:24 PM

hii
this is Ajay Gudi here, my suggestion to all the media is that ganguly should be removed from the team, since he has not performed well from 2-3 years in the team.He is not fit as captain or as a player in the team.He is there in the team due to bloody politics.

I sujjest that Rahul dravid should be made as teams captain.
