it happens only in india!!!
by saurabh agrawal on Sep 24, 2005 10:48 PM

we indians tend to live on past glories. "ZERO" was given to the world by us and blah blah... the point is what are we giving now. i agree ganguly has a fantastic record both as a batsman and a captain but how long can indian cricket carry his past record on its shoulders. can u imagine any australian captain (say ponting) holding the fort so long without contributing with the bat. i feel leaders set the example but i dont find ganguly doing it. if he can score only against bangladesh/kenya/zimbabwe then he might as well start playing ranji again.

also, the the question is not whether ganguly should quit or not. he should be sacked. its high time since the BCCI showed some guts and and did something constructive to bring indian cricket to the place where it belongs....

Gangulys Decision
by Tushar on Sep 24, 2005 10:33 PM

I think Ganguly always wants India to win and is a great captain as the records speak however for now its high time that he finds form and plays well to actually lead the team by a captains knock but we fear its just not happening and he has had a fare chance. And Ganguly knows for sure that under present BCCI rules he has no position in the team if he steps down from capatainship thats why the tussle. But now enough is enough and Ganguly shud step down from captaincy gracefully. As far as Greg's stand is concerned its perfectly perfect.

Ganguly must continue
by radha on Sep 24, 2005 10:20 PM

hi
dont worry ganguly. Its unfortunate that when a man wins 100's of matches we will just appreciate. if he fails to perform in few matches we will discourage him. its unfortunate that at the time when we are suppose to give good support we are not doing it. A coach should identify the strengths. Ganguly is having immense experience as a captain. the duty of coach is to see that when captain is not performing well he should identify the dificulties. if we are not well killing is not a treatment. if india is not performing well removing captain is not a treatment. removing inabilities and difficulties is treatment. these are my personal views. i support ganguly. we all should support him in his tough time. i am sure he will show what ganguly is.

What a drab?
by yashraj on Sep 24, 2005 10:00 PM

A drab at bulawayo and the same old story at harare. Mr.Ganguly wake up and smell the coffee, i was a staunch supporter of the indian captain for years until insecurity and the greed for a position in the team transformed an exceptional cricketer into a vulnerable cry-baby.
Chappel who already has the load of expectation had no other choice but take a step in the positive direction.
Step down Mr.Ganguly in the interest of the nation.

spat between Ganguly and Greg Chapel
by Asim Kumar Bhattacharya on Sep 24, 2005 09:54 PM

Under Sourav's captaincy and John Wright's coaching
team India reached final of the last world cup. I am sure under Greg's coaching India will not be able to reach even the final of next world cup. Greg Chappel thinks team India is his subordinate. The same Greg had asked his teammate Trevor Chappel to bowl underhand when he was captain of Australian team. He has scant regard for decency.

Time to Quit
by Chaitanya on Sep 24, 2005 09:29 PM

What does he mean by "Yes, I agree dressing room discussion should remain within the dressing room only"

Wasn't he the one who made things public by saying "I was asked to step down before the first test match"

He actions are in VERY BAD taste.

unity required
by R.KANSWAL on Sep 24, 2005 09:28 PM

Mr.Ganguly's days are over. he should think himself.
his this kind of nature will ruined the team.
our board should think for better option.
captain should be able to keep unity in team.
Board, manager& coach pay attention to build super team for next world cup.
Ganguly can not do this.
what ever Mr.Chappell expressed is worth.Ganguly is like a bad fish. better make him out.

why all this discrimination talk......
by stephen on Sep 24, 2005 09:15 PM

why this discrimination talk . i am an indian . i am currently in
australia. see their sporting culture and then comment on is greg
chappel being professional or discriminal? man we live in the 20th
centuary . u know why australia is the best team, they cuck out
players who do not perform . martyn, bevan, gillespie . you know
gillespie is loved by many here . still if one does not perform . they
are shown the doors . this is what we indians do not have . gone are
the days when ganguly performed . u call taking 100 in a snail pace in
todays cricket whein the runrates are 4 or 5 per innings is back in
form ?? india has talent , dont tell me . out of 1 billion only one can
lead . you must be joking . come on lets all face the truth. we are all
in this dillema of ganguls past performance. live today , today is
means a lot of me rather than yesterday . ganguly is just simply
scared of the ball . basics are wrong . batting nic is gone , why should
he wait . please show way to the youngsters , there are people with
immense immense talent . why we indians are ignoring them . our
bcci ask a new guy to play a match and ask him to prove his worth.
that cant happen .
