The article was totally biased & was an attempt by the writer to gain some limelight out of the present fiasco between the coach & captain of the indian cricket team.the writer must be reminded at the end of the day numbers matter(the first thing a layman will speak of sir donald bradman is that he had an average of 99.99!!!). Chapell's strategy was absolutely pedestrian in srilanka, where india lost all their matches with the host(moreover ganguly was not the captain then!). apart from dravid(who is playing strangely after being replaced by ganguly!)none of the players have been consistent not even the 'great'tendulkar(who scores against the likes of kenya & bangladesh;not even zimbabwe, cos we still heath streak around!). finally the writer seemed to be in awe of 'white skin'-GET OVER IT!STAND BY OUR MAN COS HE'S THE ARCHITECT OF THIS TEAM.JAI HIND
15000 intl runs 34 intl 100s 85 intl 50s Over 200 intl sixes Longest serving and winning captain 30 MoM in ODIs 2 5 wicket hauls Top scorer for India (abt 60 times in ODIs, maybe 10-15 times in tests) Only player to unite the team in the wake of match fixing allegations
All these get nullified and he becomes an "embarassment" owing to poor form for some 3 off series..
Dear Sir, Again a very good article written after indeapth anaysis of the Indian Captain. High time he should quit the Captaincy in the interest of the game. Even better if he stops playing cricket, otherwise we are forced to watch his laborious battin as he did in the last test match against Zimbabwe.
Dear Author, First of all this is a sick persons article. Second, everyone wants to score better and people also them to score in every match. You better understand its not possible in every match. When a player like ganguly is going through a bad patch, i think you better encourage him instead of writing "He has scored on a bad pitch". If he didnt scored any runs they you will tell "he didnt score". So what do you want? For your kind information not everyone in this conditions also have scored 100. Please stop writing such crap articles and try to encourage Indian captain, so that he can recover from his bad patch fast and easy. The sickest thing is "A coach with experience of 3 months tells the board to take the captain off who has more than 10 years of expierence in the team and 5 years of experience in leading the team". And you back this COACH. You better understand where is the flaw. Cheers Venkat
Arvind - the last time I reacted to your article was to lambast you for 'Clear and Present Danger'. This time I decided to respond to an excellently articulated article.
I cannot agree more with you - Ganguly was once the flavour of the season... hell!! before the SL series, I was hoping that Gangs would score some (quick) runs and reclaim captaincy the right way!... and then I saw his commitment (or the lack of it) during that series - both batting and fielding - pathetic; a far cry from the way Dravid conducts himself under Ganguly's captaincy. It was clear that this man was only playing for personal gains.. he did not even try to score quicker during his 50 from 110 balls innnings! Thats when I realised that this man does not deserve a place in the side, leave alone captaincy - and not so much for his incompetency but for his utter lack of attitude!!!
If he wants to be remembered for his legacy, he should quit gracefully before they start shouting from rooftops!
