For starters, can the BCCI set up a proper office!
Secondly, we've heard enough about Kolkata and Saurav Ganguly. Take a look at how the administration retaliates to taunts from the spectators at football games in Italy. They stage matches there to empty stadiums. So I hope Sharad Pawar firstly teaches Bengal a lesson by staging ODIs and Tests at the now shoddy Eden Gardens, to an empty stadium. Next, can we erase Saurav Ganguly's name from Indian Cricket for ever. He and his fans have done enough to bridge differences among cricketers and fans, differences which never existed. Any thought of him returning to the team will disrupt a fine atmosphere that prevails at the moment, as we saw against Sri Lanka and South Africa. We have to look ahead to 2007, and not behind and at the centuries he's scored against the Kenyas and Bangladeshes. Dravid is a good human and a respected leader. A respect Ganguly never earned and never will.

The write is another pro-ganguly camp... Stop non-sense... Forget Ganguly.. He is no more in the Indian Team List.. The current team is playing in its peak and performing as a team. Ganguly is a politician he adopted devide and rule policy that hampered Indian Cricket.. So guys dont talk again about Ganguly.. Because of him we are unable to pick the most talented cricketers like Yuvraf and Kaif for tests.. I believe instead of Ganguly both should be included in Tests.. Build Indian team for future dont go in past.

Board should give clear justification why Sourav is kept out, transparency wonot be restored just by saying, it can be restored by action.

I sent this mail regarding your comments When do we get to where we see Sourav, and V V S Laxman, and Anil Kumble (who, arguably, has won us more games in both the Test and ODI varieties than any other contemporary player up to and including Sachin Tendulkar, and whose exclusion from the current one-day team has been accepted without any grass growing on the Bangalore pitch) as components of Team India?.

Dear writer, why you people, always criticized Sachin Tendulkar? I think you forget that Sachin have the world record of wining man of the match in one-dayer more than any other cricketer in the world. That mean, Sachin won more one-dayer for his country than any other cricketer in the world. And talking about test, I think steve wagh holding the world record of wining 8 man-of-the-match award. Sachin is not far behind. Also sachin was two times highest run getter in world-cup (1996 and 2003), man-of-series of 2003 world cup. These are only few of lots. So, before criticizing Sachin dont forget those records he established.

Your column correctly points out the mess the Indian cricket is in today. But I believe that no matter what Mr Pawar does, will bear any influence. A lot depends on how the selectors and the coach can distance themselves from the socio political ramifications and get on with the job of selecting the best team. This I believe will be in the best interest of everybody since this will generate a lot of wealth.

And that I believe is the only reason why Mr Pawar is interested.

Every word uttered in the article is worth the cause. Man wish I had any point of contradiction!
Another wish: Wish the new team (i.e. the BCCI)followed on what has been written (& correcly written).

I think that the author has touched few valid points regarding the situation that has arisen owing to the spat between ganguly and Chappel. Here I want to add one or two things which, if not sorted out immediately, may lead to crisis when the thins for the team may not be at the height, it expects to reach. Does the coach enjoy the right to cange a team or captain which the selectors have chosen? We all agree that the dressing room conversation should not come out in the public but why we all avoid the issue of Chappel asking Ganguly to step down going outside his authority? Again, is it the coach, like in other team games, who should reign supreme in Indian cricket team management or cricket being a different game which lasts for a long period of time should have the captain to have the last say?

Hi! The question at that time was not the right of Coach to question the capacity of a Captain. It was a question of a Coach (Who has a specific role in assessing capacity of a player) to replying in a frank manner to an unfit player. There was a commitment taken from the Coach at the time of his appointment to build a team for the future.

If Ganguly was not a captain, does he merit a place in the playing eleven just as a player only on the basis of Statistics? If statistics are the only criteria, Vinod Kambli must be playing for India (He has a better batting average in tests than Ganguly's and of same age as Ganguly).

Why are you forgetting a simple logic of the coach and highlighting the right of the coach?
