what the problem is
by Abhinav Rajvanshi on Mar 30, 2005 03:37 PM

Thank you saurabh for really nice artical. The way saurabh is batting is really very depressing and unfortuanate. But Dada is not the only person who is facing this fall in the form being capton. We have the examples of Moh. Azaheruddin and Sacin Tendulkar. they also were not in their usual form as a batsman while having the load of captoncy.was'nt it so ?
Saurabh is a good capton and need to concentrate on batting. We would be very happy having back the exploding batsman again.

& fielding?
by DrUrvish on Mar 30, 2005 03:27 PM

forgot to mention one more thing...have u people noticed ever,he s the worst fielder in the Indian team after Kumble?look at the way he fumbles,he misfields & oh then shouting at others for their misfields!!! Absoleute irony. If he s not wirth a batsman, least he's expected is to be worth fielder.Huh,agree with one comment on the board,Kiran More is making fool of himself only stating his previous records & assuring abt his captaincy.Sab Kuchh Chalta Hai India mein...bas sote raho!!!

Shame on you Ganguly
by Glenn Samuel on Mar 30, 2005 03:16 PM

Dear Friends,

The saddest part of being an Indian cricket fan turned true when Pakistan won the last test match. Someone rightly said, Pakistan did not win the match, we helped them win it.

Such was the misery that the BIGGEST GUN of Indian cricket - No need for guessing, played on of his most slowest innings. It was a pain to watch him bat. The silken VVS has somehow become rough. Probably his shoes have fevicol on the soles.

The best part is the most unreliable, lazy player in the team happens to be our CAPTAIN.

Lets ban cricket in India and instead concentrate on Kabaddi. At least we have less competition.

Also to blame are Pepsi, Coke, Reebok etc. who make these players overnight stars. They dont play for glory but only money matters.

Shame on you Ganguly.

Kaif deserves spot
by Mahesh on Mar 30, 2005 03:15 PM

The psychology of retaining people for what they have done in past is devastating. It not only proves bad on the results of matches India plays but also prevents creating second layer of batsmen/bowlers who could prove lethal. We should have Australia like approach, where only performers get to play matches. and there is stiff compitition to get into the team. We have loads of talent, unused because of regional bias. Amol Muzumdar is a classic example.

i think Sulabh is still too much optimistic!
by DocUrvish on Mar 30, 2005 03:06 PM

Sulabh, dear I think the aura/era of Ganguli is over now (actually since last world cup).Team like Zimbabwe also knows the flaws in his batting now & surprisingly he has done nothing to overcome his limitations (bouncers, etc) unlike Sachin or any other genuine batsman.Nobody deserves to be in the National Team with one certificate of "Captaicy" & "Past-Records".Talents like M.Hayden too have to sit in pavilion if they don't score consistently or above a certain average, but me forgetting, its India!!!Undoubtedely, this fellow has served country in earlier times but that's not the reason he still shld be in! Dravid,Kumble or even Sachin can lead the team.We can't waste one valuable place of batsman in the team like this.Time to say him...Good bye

Agreement
by sudhir Bandari on Mar 30, 2005 02:57 PM

Good article. This is high time that prince should show his class. The fear of the "Rib- Cage attack"
should vanish. I would love to see the elgant drives and huge swings which used to send the cherry out of the ground. I would also like to mention that the whole country is with prince specially cause its a lean patch for prince. One patient century should get back the confidence.

Good Luck Always to DADA

Sudhir

Plz Step Down

I request the selection committee that plz dont go for the past records of a player. U should consider present form of a player (whoever might be? Sachin / Captain?). This can help Nation. I am loosing interest in Cricket day by day.

Hi Subhas

I don't think you should watch cricket. it's game enjoy it as a game, if you can lose interest in a game just because your team is losing i don't think you should watch that game, you don't deserve it. i think people like u and Gleen samual should concentrate on kabbadi.
Pepsi, Coke, Reebok etc. don't make these players overnight stars it you people who only watch game when they win matches and crticize them when they lose

Selector should choose the team first then the captain
those who dosn't perform whoever may be should be out of team and the deserving new one should get chance.

Sourav needs to take a break...
by Anish on Mar 30, 2005 02:19 PM

Sourav has been a good captain.. infact the most successful yet - no doubt
Sourav is very talented and is a gifted batsman - no doubt

But the fact is :
Sourav has not been performing as a batsman since quite a long now...
Sourav as a captain is not leading (in the actual sense) the team for quite...
Sourav's confidence level is at at its lowest... you can see fear in his eyes as well as his shots - even while he's facing a very mediocre bowler...
There are so many newcomers.. waiting on bench.. who have proved their worth in domestic cricket...

What needs to be done :
Sourav needs to take a break... give up his place for a person who's performing like Yuvraj / Kaif...
Sourav needs to prove himself in domestic cricket first... maybe he can play in county to get used to the bowling variation...

Take live example of Australia - undoubtely the best team in the world.. no team is near them in any aspect of cricket...
Every player in Australian team needs to perform consistently to keep his place in the team... if not even a few bad performances mean he's out..
If a player in their team is out of form, he without any consideration or any emotions is dropped...

mr .ganguly
we are very much frustrated to see ur performance during the past one year.
we r feeling jealousy by seeing the performance of other captains in the world. ur performane has been deteriorated during last one year.do u know ur avg on pak during this series its below 17! what a pity!
if u were not hte captain u r the first person to be hacked from the team.if u r a person who wishes to see india on top please quit captaincy and concentrate on the the game. this is my humble request.

Saurav Ganguly, Prince of Calcutta

Many thanks to Sulabh for writing such a article.
But don't lose faith. Previously in 2001 Australia series & succesive ZIM seris he was in awful form. But he came back stongly in the Sri Lanka tour a win a test match for India. Again in the last England series in India his form was not good. Again he came back strongly in the ZIM series, scored a century & India won the test series 2-0.

He deserves another chance in the tests. He will certainly come to form in the upcoming ODI's against Pakistan.

I am from Behala, Kolkata, the land of Prince of Calcutta. If you are a true fan, have faith in him & God.

May God bless Saurav.

Mr. Palit, stop spreading your nonsense idology. Are you a fan of Sourav just because he is your neighbour ? We need our captain to be full of confidence and in good form to lead the team from front. I am from Kolkata too, but that does not mean we'll support him even when I can see he is a culprit. I am sure he instructed the team to play defensive in 5th day and we lost. What an idiotic game plan. He should take rest now and play domestic cricket. Same applies to Sachin and Laxman too. We should have 3 fresh faces with Kumble as Captain, not Dravid, because I don't want to loose our greatest batsman.
