16 years is a long time!!
by Balaji on Oct 11, 2004 01:07 AM

Sriram is absolutely right that Todays Sachin is not the Sachin of yore. But 16 years is a hell lot of time for someone to remain exactly the same. When he started off he was an adventurous teenager with big hitting abilities who was promoted up the order for his ability to clear the infield and exploit the fielding restrictions. He did it so well, the all the matches were Tendulkar or nothing. Today, he has grown older and with age catching up, his reflexes will slow down. He has beautifully adjusted to the change in age by cuttingout the risks and playing a totally different set of shots. He still has a strike rate of 86 plus. It is not as entertaining as earlier but equally effective. He is still the worlds best and the recent loss to Australia only goes on to prove it. The Aussies still are terrified of him as the candidly admit. If u dont believe me ask the Aussies!!

Spoken like a true fan.

Yeah...I agree with you whole-heartedly.I have watched and followed Sachin's game for almost his entire career and I am of the same belief too.Sachin doesnt need to score runs to prove a point to anybody. What the heck, he is and will be for some time to come, one of the most gifted batsmen to have smashed the daylights of bowlers. But where has that streak of genius in him gone?Everybody knows its there but why has he suppressed it?I know that is not what the team wants from him.The other batsmen would rather face bowlers who have had their self-belief shattered than have Sachin at the other end giving company til the end.It hurts me that I cant expect another blistering 82 in 49 balls like the one against NZ in 93-94 from him...to an extent I have stopped watching him bat.I have better things to do than watch a man throw it all away towards the twilight of a glittering career

Good One

Point well made! I just wish that Tendulkar reads this. I think he has changed his style not out of his own free will but no one has ever told him all this. True, we all miss that Sachin.

Tendulkar of Old
by Sundeep Kumar on Oct 08, 2004 09:50 AM

Yes, I too feel that Tendulkar of Old was the Best.. now he has taken more of a defensive step. when he played in an attacking mood through out the World Cup 2003, i a sure everyone will agree, that the world was under his feet. Though we missed out the World Cup as such, Tendulkar as a player was seen in prime form. thats the Tendulkar we wnat, rather than the Dravid Tendulkar. As the previous article rightly pointed out that earlier it was all Tendulkar when some one calls india. Now the scenario has changed. we have other reliable batsmen as well. So why Not Tendulkar play his natural game ??????
Lets hope that the Master himself reliases this and turns out to be the nightmare for the bowlers, as the past did.

Sachin: The great cricketeer of the time
by uma on Oct 07, 2004 11:43 PM

There is no doubt as that my subject refers. He is not only a great cricketeer but also great human being. There is not much change in his style of delivering the shots in the pitch. But, there seems to be a bit inconcistency in his performance. But of course, there are some factors like multiple injuries which effected his batting to some extent. As some of my friends have posted here that there should be a reincarnation needed in his performance, so that he would reach to make a batting record so high that no cricketeer in the world would dare to break it.

by Jasjeet on Sep 30, 2004 04:33 PM

I fully agree to Mr.Sriram and appreciate the kind of postive thinking he has but all would be in vain If Sachin still continues to play like he plays these days. Please somebody make him read this topic.....so that he realises what he and we are missing

Master Blaster
by Shailesh on Sep 30, 2004 02:34 PM

Exactly,

Tendlya has lost his charm, i don't know whether he is doing purposely or he is in confused. we are really missing the Master Blaster after World Cup Innings against Pakistan. Sachin should gear up himself inspring form his freind Micheil Schumaker.
