why bother??
by Manish Mishra on Jul 30, 2004 12:24 PM

I really do not understand the objective of such an article.

if the author feels that the game is ruled by coomercial intrests and ev'thing is fixed......then why does he bother about such a game and waste so much of his and others time on the same.

let the game be played the way it is being played......those who love it will continue to do so in spite of all such articles and even in absence of all Sachins, Sehwags and Dravids.

and people who do feel that ev'thing is fixed and pre-decided i would advise them to carry on with their lives without bothering for Cricket.

Cricket will be better off without them....at least there will be none to cast aspersions on the motives of the players who have invested their entire lives and future in the game.

It is easy to comment on ev'thing from sidelines, but very difficult to be a Sachin or a Sehwaag or even a Ranji player for that matter.

Please try to be positive
by vaibhav on Jul 30, 2004 12:04 PM

i must say tht the article is very well written, but can't the wisemen, or the wiseman in this case be more positive about things??? making a hue and cry about the fact that cricket has been turned into a commercial sport, i guess, the writer is just trying to portray himself as a very thoughtful person, but sadly his thinkig is toooo negative!!!!!!!!! get a life please

Its a SICK article
by Sumit on Jul 30, 2004 12:03 PM

What a sick piece of journalism (or the lack of it). Its so convenient for a writed to just pen down anything and get away with it (haven't we been told since childhood that a pen is mightier than sword). But if THIS is what the pen has to write, then atleast the publisher (Rediff) should review it before posting it on their site. Can they just get away by saying "Article represets Author's views and not that of Rediff"

Can we never ever stop bit**ing about others .. when they perform and when they don't. If the writer feels so MATRIXED, he should better cover other issues of the world and please be OUT OF CRICKET. Disgustingly Yours.

Totally sane
by prashant on Jul 30, 2004 12:03 PM

This is most rubbish article I have ever read. To blame that the such an exciting match to be fixed without any proof is ridiculous. I guess sites like shud review articles before posting them and shud take some responsibility. Author definitely needs some mental treatment

Re: Dematrix yourself!
by Aditya on Jul 30, 2004 12:02 PM

This is a very thought-provoking message indeed. It set me thinking if there was any possibility that what the respected columnist alleged could actually be true. It struck me that it could - provided we have eleven villains in the garb of national heroes. Sure, the prime factor motivating Sachin is how to get his next Ferrari and not India and Dravid loves his Hutch cell more than the tricolour, while our esteemed writer is one of the minority who can see beyond the "matrix" and thirsts to restore our honour and pride.

Bravo!!

Cricket\'s a farce
by Arvind on Jul 30, 2004 11:51 AM

I thoroughly agree to what the writer has to say here... cricket's become a Sponsors' game where all team decisions are influenced by money invested on the "brand" that is the player... how do you explain Parthiv in the team, when all he does is drop catches and miss run outs or Ganguly the "inspirational " captain who's been averaging around 25 last 18 months (that too with the help of scores against teams like UAE,bangladesh etc..)...During this India-SL match I knew all along that India is going to win and Voila Jayasuriya gets out with a pathetic shot at the most convenient time!!!

what a farce cricket has become...

matrix of cricket
by Sunil g on Jul 30, 2004 11:46 AM

At last i found someone who shares my sneaking suspicion about India's sudden rise to stardom.
Whole of india knows sachin is not a patch on lara but we being emotional are sold to what the MNC wanna dish out. how india suddenly found form at the last world cup. CEO intervention !!

infact i had bet that come what may India is not going to lose the match against sri lanka and that it would lose to pakistan for some time to come in near future. its all fixed up by govt, MNC and we gullible fools leave our work to watch a bunch of guys give us hig. huh !!
