Yeah sure

Of course it's the matrix! And why not? Everything else is! It's just another pawn in the whole game.

Why look at cricket or sports only in isolation. Look around you - everything is fixed, programmed and contrived. Including your article. Think hard - why is this article written? For who's benefit? Not the reading public, not the players, not the corporates? Then for whom? Yourself? Maybe. Maybe not.

As a race, we have been programmed to be immune towards crime, rape, atrocities and all. So who cares? If you enjoy watching the game - go ahead. Don't play these mind games. Serves no purpose. People only start treating you as 'abductees'.

I've been a keen follower of the game for a long long time and articles such as yours only amuse me, if anything.

Give humanity a chance -

Boy o boy,
That was quite a fiction that you wrote. All it did was increase my heart beat at how people can contrive something out of nothings. U really are pretty close to arundathi. I mean come on, if all we have to do is to wake up and start feeling bad about killings, rapes, you wudn't find a smile around u. And then more killings. Lets give entertainment its due. Lets smile and lets be positive and appreciate everything positive and thats what will bring down the killings, rapes.
Someone please stop the guy! He's a combo of Vandana, arundathi, fernandes draped in a red flag with a sickle!!

by Chandramouli on Jul 30, 2004 10:58 AM

It's good to be analytical but analysing and trying to figure out logic for every action would take the stuffings out of life.Relax, enjoy the game and forget it...or howz that if I say....some hockey lover has asked you to write this article so as to shift focus from ever popular Cricket....Howzz that...

what rubbish
by Partha Sarathy on Jul 30, 2004 10:55 AM

What nonsense is this. There is absolutely no logic or rhyme in the thinking. So now we have to beleive that Corporations are running the game, as West Indies, zimbabwe, England are not so hot and happening. Yuvraj promoted as opener because he is a better brand??, do you know cricket, or are simply fooling around. Yuvraj is technically a sound batsman. Akash chopra is a plodder, from the old school of batting. Today batting is more exciting and fast. Australians have mastered that art. What is wrong if Indians are trying the same thing. ALl the great openers in cricket were actually middle order batsman. Gooch, , Haynes, all were fast players, who were promoted to open the innings. Yuvraj has won more matches for india than Akash chopra. Thus your contention even on cricekting principles is absolute nonsense. And marketing angle is all conjured up in your mind, mere mental constructs, nothing less, nothing more. If i buy your logic, all great sports, basketball, baseball all are fixed!! everything is fixed, everything is systematised, and we are fools who believe in the truth of it all. Thanks!!!!!

Ridiculous
by Ajay on Jul 30, 2004 10:55 AM

This is one of the most ridiculous article i have come across in recent times, the writer neither sounds funny nor is his article believable. If only life was as simple on a cricket field as he seems to think. You can only fix a few things a few times Mr.Avinash not everything always. He is doing a great disservice to all the indian cricketers by saying every match india has won has been fixed.Do you mean to say no nation or cricketer has any self respect that they will lose to India whenever the sponsers tell them to?Just because you have a Computer in front does not mean you can type nonsense.

by Raj on Jul 30, 2004 10:47 AM

to tell you the truth, my head is in a matrix now!!

was this article written to get an entry into some competition which rewards writers for being as cryptic as they can be when it comes to what they dish out?!!!

And it's too imaginative an article too. Like they say, if you want to see shit, you will only see shit!

Ashish, please do a better job next time around.

how do u allow this?
by Manjesh Verma on Jul 30, 2004 10:34 AM

this article is an insult to all sane people's sensibilities. Mindless mumbling about match fixing, sparing no one in the team. Am no great believer in today's cricket being a pure and honest game, however this article sounds and is ridiculous. Please apply some logic and have some coherence before writing any article on this well-respected rediff site.
