We need to rethink our batting order. I t is seen the moment Sehwag gets out there is an instant pressure. Since he is mostly failing as opener, he should be treated as an allrounder and brought down to position 6 or 7. We should have either a new opener like Shikhar Dhawan, who did well in U 19 or try Kaif. One day cricket is all about yougsters, Laxman position is once again becoming doubtful due to lack of consistency, Badani may serve better. Agarkar should be back in place of Balaji who needs to play a lot in Ranji Trophy. If seven top world class batsmen can't score 229, there is something drastically wrong with our planning and strategy.
Sachins inning in Asia cup final was not up to the mark. He allowed bowlers to dominate and then it was difficult for rest of the batsmen to handle them.
Saurav, Sachin and Dravid all wants to play anchor role rather than attacking bowlers. It is time to change batting order and roles of top six batsmen
While there should be no pardon for the way the Indian batting line up folded up, what bears questioning is the quality of the pitch.
This is not the first time that Srilanka has dished up a horror for a major final. A ODI finale is one where one expects a high scoring run fest filled with excitement right down to the last ball. This match was a complete disappointment in that department.
I think the ICC in the wider interest of the game needs to make more investments in this area and ensure that pitches across all countries (specially the sub continent) are made more result oriented.
All said and done cricket is the most exciting when the ball comes sweetly to the bat, fast bowlers get bounce and swing, good spinners get turn and grip. Thats why we all love cricket in Australia.
Lastly the above paragraph is clearly the reason why Shane Warne is clearly a greater bowler than the chucker Murali who throws on mud flats where any jhonny can take wickets on his given day.
The whole series was fixed!! Ganguly should step down as captain and sachin should retire .Kaif and Yuvi should give way to the likes of Mongia and Badani!
It was great to watch our bowlers bowl to right line and length and contain the srilankan batsmen. Especially the early exit of Jayasurya. Great job done!
The batting stategy to chase a modest total lead to the downfall. I always wonder why we did not utilise the first fifteen overs effectively. The outcome of the match would have been different if australia would have been chasing. They would have gone all out in the first fifteen overs and have a lesser asking rate to chase. We were responsible for brinking up the asking rate to 7 plus and then expect the lower level batsmen to deliver. Another question is : If Zaheer and harbajan could use their feet effectively against the sri lankan spinners, why did Tendulkar and co refrain from it in the middle overs. All that we needed at that situation was a few big overs to bring down the asking rate. I see a lot of diferenec in the way Tendulkar is playing. The matured innings was good for him. But not for India and that too in recent past he has been putting a lot of pressure on the tail enders by getting out in the 39th and 40th overs after playing a mature innings..
Hope the think tank learns from these experience!!
After watching India's performance yesterday, I have only one thing to tell the guys. STOP PLAYING INTERNATIONAL CRICKET. Ganguly should step down as captain and the most important of all Sachin Should retire. It is high time he stops playing. He wasted more than 15 overs. Had he and the other players at least taken singles, the cup would have been ours. Shame on you guys. I am sure that the match had been fixed.
India has lost yet another final. The bowlers did an excellent job in restricting the Lankans to a modest total. But the lack of planning and the bastmen's failure to rotate the strike put india well below the target. Yuvaraj should have batted at No.3 at the fall of Shewag's wicket knowing his ability to score against the faster bowlers than the spinners. Some quick runs early on would have made things easy for India.
The Indian captain was required to lead from the front. He failed miserably in his batting whilst his counterpart played a glorious knock. And how could he opt for three pacers and leave out Kumble knowing very well that Premadasa favours slow bowlers. It is time he takes a sabbatical.
sachin made his attempt to retrive india's victory, the opening batsmen like sehwag, ganguly and players like yuvraj, kaif did not render the required support to sachin. so, sachin's effort went on to vain, hope this w/d not repeat again in the further matches, the players atleast must get out, if at all they r unable to score runs, as yuvraj did just 5 runs from 15 balls...............
anyways, all the best in the future matches................good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
