Factually incorrect
by cricophile on Nov 25, 2003 10:21 AM

Mr. Panicker,
Thanks for your ongoing articles. I sincerely believe you are doing a great service to India and Indian cricket in particular, as we all true-blue Indians should, in whatever capacity possible. However I find Vanka Pratap's story factually incorrect. I understand he was alluding to Noel David offering money to a selector (or asked for money by a selector). Vanka's episode resembles more of Ritesh Yadav of UP, another pawn in this great Indian Willowgate.

Kale Controversy and Unjust BCCI
by anand on Nov 25, 2003 09:36 AM

Does all this mean that BCCI is an autocratic body and is allowed to act the way it wishes, uncontrolled, unjust, irresponsible, unanswerable --which no other institution, even the highest courts of this country neither the lawmakers are allowed to do ?

Uncomfortable questions...
by Ads on Nov 25, 2003 09:17 AM

I had been reading these articles on bribery that has "creeped"into Indian cricket for quite some time now. It all started as I remember, when Kapil Dev was first accused & now Abhijit Kale turns out to be another "victim" of the arrogant and brain-less BCCI. On the other hand when these very officials of a slection committee approaches the player viz Vanka Pratap and he "complains" he is the one whose heaad is chopped off... WHY???? The so-called officials of BCCI should first try to look into whats going on in their own vicinity.
These people have no right whatsoever to spoil the careers of the young talented players and also deprive the country of achieving laurels that the talented players can bring.
Cant we all come together and fight with these HEADS in the BCCI or slelectors who are doing nothing but just playing with LIVES of many such players one way or the other- either by asking bribe or falsely claiming that a player has offered bribe???

Kale Incident
by Shalin Srivastava on Nov 25, 2003 09:00 AM

Good question raised by Mr.Panicker. How come this case was settled so fast ? What if the proof's were obvious enough to convict him. We can not doubt the credibility of the conviction just because it was fast. We however should get chance to look at the proof which made the case cloase so fast. We should have that right.
I am not trying to take sides, but we should be fair to both sides.

Good Job Mr. Panikar

I fully agree with you. In my view Jagmohan Dalmiya who acts according to his whims need to give an explanation rather than the players. Only a person who is an exemplary of Gandhi's three bandars (monkeys) would know that Indian Cricket selection is free of corruption. Its a shame the all the big wigs of this country behave in such an irresponsible manners. Moreover, you should also write about the fact that why India started its cricketing ties with Pakistan immidiately after Mr. Dalmiya had a meeting with Sports Minister...More than peace and truce I see something else here....
