Instead of getting a duty free ferrari, he should think of doing something of the stature of Steve Waugh. He can certainly make difference in the lives of millions of needy people in India with his status. Government then should support his actions in a positive way to support his organization and in turn the needy people.
Sachin's greatness is his silence on any issue be it ball tampering or now the customs duty.He knows best as his name is not linked to any controversy.Sachin has proved a point now where else except in Mumbai he could set things right by his magnanimity.Let Sachin donate a huge sum for the rehabilitation fund of the bomb(ay) explosions victims. This gesture will certainly be rememebered than the Ferrari custom duty. Let us leave him mentally free to play at his best.
It was utter stupidity on the part of Sachin to personally apply for exemptions when the donor company was ready to foot the bill for such eventuality. He unnecessarily dragged himself in the controversies which were benefitting the company. But he should come out wiser after this incident. May God bless him and we wish him good in all his endeavours in cricket and personal life.
C'on guys, what's wrong with you all. Sachin is an Indian citizen just like all citizens he has the right to "request" just like you and me. There is nothing wrong in a "request" by an Indian citizen to the Govt. of India. I "request" for IT exemptions all the time - some go thru and some don't. And what is all this about "he can afford to" - just because you and I can afford to pay 500 for a meal that costs 100, does this mean that you and I should pay what we can afford to??.... This car is not something that he went out shopping for and is asking for an exemption. He has been Gifted for his great achivements. This achivement is a matter of pride for each Indian and do you think it is right for him to pay for his achievment and doing his country proud?? He is snatching away any money from the Gov. of India. Only 3-5 % of the Govt's income is actually spent on the population the rest is all administartive costs.... Give the credit to the Guy, not because you feel pity but because he diserves every bit of it... Please don't condem a Hero in a nation where Hero's are hard to comeby in recent times..
It is certainly a bad move by sachin. He is a person living in a country which gives equal rights to all its citizens. As a citizen of that nation he is bound to pay his taxes.
Sachin , is one of the Indian's who have held our national flag with aplomb and is our ambassador and others fear in cricket world . His duty must be waived .No question on that !!!!!!!
The man who made our country proud for the past ten years, deserves the tax exemption. When there are crores of people who evande tax in one form or other in our country, there is no harm in evading tax for this great cricketer.
I think sachin is a great batsman .. that dosent mean hez exemted from paying the tax .. if this is the situation .. then every body does the same thing ultimately ending in huge loss to Govt. and breaking the law .. If hez willing to take the car to his home county then he shud also be willing to pay the tax .. I hope hez a good gentlemen .. and keeps his gentlenss..
