Bangalore was once known as the "Garden city of India". It is sad to see Blore being rephrased as Suicide capital.... It is true that Blore has grown 10 folds in terms of pollution and ppl....One of the main reasons is the Tech companies.... Dont blame the city...it is what it is...It has tried and stretched as much as possible to accommodate needs...the reason I say so is coz earlier ppl moved to blore for the climate...but today they move coz of job opportunities.... Companies%u2019 r moving to Blore coz they probably have better benefits when compared to other cities..... It is upto ppl who r in it to step back and see what suits their life style.... In as much as ppl curse BPO, they fill their banks with the salary they get......... Well every company has certain regulations..... if u cant work long hrs take part time option to get back on track..... and dont blame EMI's, well if u take loans..u need to repay them...why take a lot and then loose sleep over it...... It is upto every person to make their life complete or just a money vending machine.....Choose ur way depending upon the life u need.....Every step in opposite direction is not gona take u to the right destination my friend.

u seem to b a follwer of siddhuism my friend
Some of us have been alone in the US for a long long time away from families, friends and what not. I can't even remember the last time I considered myself to be a person with a family or a friend. Every time I see other people celebrating or enjoying with their families or friends, it reminds me of what I am missing. No thanks, I don't require your sympathy. I am merely vomiting my thoughts out. If you can prevent yourself from making masty comments about people like us deserving all this because of our choice to "betray" India, that would be a great help.

I live in US too and I nkow how it is too feel lonely and miss our loved ones....But we do make friends here and we r not cursing US and telling US is driving us nuts.... All of us who r here have made this chose and are trying to make it fit into our lives...like make new friends see places explore new relationships and call this home....I think ppl there should be able to do the same and not blame the city.... I totally know what u feel and yes we dont need sympathy coz we have evolved out of the so called gloomy life to make this work in our favor.....

Thats well said Pulsar, its not just you but several of us feel lonely, not much to do in your free time and not much socializing. But that doesn't mean we get down on it, its a choice we made and got to live out the good and bad sides of moving to a different country or city.

I know what you mean since I live and work in the US today. But I have worked in the IT sector in India as well and believe me its plain crazy. It not about missing family and friends..the stress is because of the insane work load the Indian IT outsourcers dump on people. Noone understands that you have a life outside of work - weekends are not weekends and every day people work late. There is no time to work out, no time to socialize. They may be getting paid well but their social life is largely limited to their colleagues at work. There should be laws to curb this/

Extremely well said. I used to work in India - like a mad dog. Then I moved to the US temporarily and I couldn't imagine my luck. The freedom and time was so enjoyable but after a couple of years, I started missing India terribly and couldn't wait to return. Then for a couple of years, life was a drudgery. Loads of work, traffic jams and coming back home by 8-9PM for not even a "great" compensation. Then I packed my bags and moved back for good. Here, my life revolves around the Indian community. Decent life at work and a great life after work with the family. I do my bit for the local Indian temple. I still miss India and feel the pangs to return every once in a while but I doubt I will be ever be able to. Not the best option this place but certainly better than life in India.

I feel consumption of liquor has been missed out. Many people in many cities work in IT and BPO. The findings here is insufficient and/or incorrect. Or may be this can attributed to what Wall Street Journal said 'out-of-hand youth culture'!
Move out of Bangalore,Hyderabad and go where???????? Mumbai???????? Not wecome if you are not Mrati Chenni????? If you don't speak Tamil, you are dead Kolkata??????? Can you speak Bengali Delhi??????? Are you rude enough to live
First of all Here you all see the way rediff makes more hits to its website by colourfuly highligting things. Second of all it is a known fact that present world is highly dynamic and those who r part of this are under stress. The next point of mine is, it is not necessary to be stressed always. It all depends on how we take things and still be very healthy inspite of more demanding employer.
Strangely rediff is having all headlines projecting Bangalore having all sort of problems. (As if other cities doesn't have any). I do not understand at all, is this something that suddenly came up ? I do not see any related news anywhere else in the front page !

You are right... But the other cities (Metros) always had problems associated to big cities. Bangalore, even 10 years back used to be a v good city to live in. But now, the traffic and population explosion, life is quite stressful.

This is because it is true. When you compare other cities they have the leverage to extend their city boundaries and have a better infrastructure.Bangalore sadly does not posess any.It is advisable for the IT giants to move to other places in India. It is getting congested and congested and more difficult to live in this greedy(sorry to say this) city.
This is not just related to IT / BPO sector but also to low paying sectors like Civil Engineers working with real estate developers, Mechanical Engineers working in Fabrication shops and Automobile industries etc. The expectations of employers in Bangalore are sky high from their employees. Their expectations are similar as if they want to run a car on its full throttle for 24 x 7 without filling even a drop of fuel and they want these cars to run without maintenance, without rest and without any drop in speed. Such illogical expectations makes the working people strive exceedingly hard to retain their jobs. They slowly develop high stresses and are most prone to medical ailments. I remember my working days in Bangalore where I used to be at the work place from 7 AM till 12 PM. No sundays, no festivals, no holidays, no social life, and above all a very mediocre salary (which was never paid on time. That's why I left Bangalore and shifted to Chandigharh. Here I am having a much better work environment and a very highly respected social life.
