It is the other way around.. Russia had 100% literacy in early 1900s when we were figuring out how to come out of slavery.. Let us get enlightened first that cricket is not the most popular or known sport in the world

Ignorance, ignorance
by Seshagiri Raghukumar on Jul 03, 2014 09:12 PM

That's alright. Many of them are ignorant. When asked about William Shakespeare, Pete Sampras was once reputed to have answered:" Who is that guy? Don't know him". Their life is limited to their sport and they are ignorant about everything around.

Who is sachin?
by partha sarathy on Jul 03, 2014 09:11 PM  | Hide replies

Why so much hype is created infavour of sachin as if this man has done some good service to the country? He played cricket, performed well for which he was paid much more than what he is worth.Do we recognise good performers in other fields except cricket and cinema?Shame on our indians.A good carpenter,a good electrician,a good farmer.a good gardener and other exceled people in various fields are in our country.Have they got due recognion. Why paid people be recognised? We purchase provisions from shop by paying and the provisions are ours and not the shop owner's.Likewise sachin was paid to play for the country and all his performances are not his. Then why foolishly supporting cinema and cricket stars?

Sachin
by Maprayil Joseph on Jul 03, 2014 09:09 PM

I admire Sachin greatly. But I won't fault Maria. First, the article itself is very flimsy. Federer can have any number of friends he chooses to have, does it mean that general public, or sports persons of other streams, should know or recognize him? Tendulkar being a permanent fixture at Wimbledon does not make him an eye-candy for the players. They have the ball to look at to (if they want to win!) In case some tennis player wants to play Wimbledon to grab attention of Tendulkar, then he should get in touch with BCCI, who would be able to "arrange" a wildcard for the player!

Tennis is very different game than gilli-danda. Please leave the girl alone. I can give name of one particular game played in more countries than cricket playing nations, but all the Sachin fans won't be able to answer which game; with all the apps and google available to them. So let Sachin remain what he is--the king. And we should give credit to him that he does not croak.

It is good that such things should happen frequently for tendulkar all over teh world . what he has done for teh society,he just made hundres of crores because of publicity, sponserer, buisness pple, and politicians, but he did nothing in reality, never won a small tournament for teh country only he played for self and money. it is a good news that this selfish guy was humiliated .

'Your envy our pride'...not our the whole world's pride. Who cares if some dumb sport-person (?) doesn't recognize him.

Do all of us know other legends sitting in the Royal box. no need to make fuss about this news, cricket is game played by 10 countries, even ICC is not encouraging this sports in other countries. how we can expect he will be known by all.
