Popularity of Sahcin can be gauged by the fact that only Indians commented and the Russians never even bothered to comment on us trolling Sharapova. It shows that we have grandiose feelings about ourselves and the world does not even care

absolutely right! We Indians are behaving in a clannish manner.grow up, guys! India is not the centre of the world nor is cricket a global sport. Whether someone knows someone from other field or not is not such an issue.
Bad mouthing Maria Sharapova on her Facebook account is just going to highlight the lack of class of these people. It will give Indians a bad name. The fact is, Tendulkar is not well known outside the cricketing world, which is limited to 12-13 countries in the world at the most. Had cricket been more popular in the world , she may have known about him. A lot of people don't even know all the top soccer players and soccer is the most popular game in the world.
I has 2 personal experience. In Chicago when I told the taxi driver that I am from India, he said vow, is it close to Dubai? In Hanover, Germany, I stayed with a local family as paid guest. I tried to understand what they knew or thought about India. I was shocked they hardly knew anything. No new Delhi, no Tajmahal, nothing. The only thing they could associate with India was elephant. So I cant understand the obsession if someone doesn't know Sachin and why it hurts our national pride?

Now 'rape' is also associated with India unfortunately...we have lost past glory when india was known for trade, spices, gems, knowledge center, science and everything else...
There are million like Sachin Tendulkar. He may have fame in cricket but still I don't put him one of the top cricketer of the world so that world people should know him. Each game has his own player of fame.

No need for a " CORRECTION " sentence from you. We know that you got a little better brain than Sharapova. By the way , who are you. ? I DON'T KNOW you. !

Its not that the 190 countries are forbidden play cricket. Either they are not interested or canot come to that level. India could achieve that level and is not because that they cant achieve in any other sports. Of course Indians are crazy and motivated to cricket because of the hard work and achievement of players like sachin.... Sachin came to see Tennis because he follows that and she couldn't do the reverse means her ignorance..no more comments on that..

..is not because that they cant achieve in any other sports. Seriously. Tell me in which other sports India has done well.Hockey! Its history for India- once the major sporting nations started playing hockey. The same fate may happen to Cricket - so far no great sporting countries (Europe/USA/China etc) has taken serious interest in this slave game, only the former slaves of Britain play it currently. So the competition is almost not there.
