The Games that were
by KVSK Prasad on Oct 15, 2010 07:04 AM

In my opinion, the games were a true reflection of what India is - There are 2 distinct part to this whole episode - The first part is the representation of our Political and administration class - Thoroughly corrupt, useless and completely out of place. This part, which includes the preparations for the games are a true representation of the chaos that prevails in the country at large thanks mainly to it's administrators, politicians - the so called ruling class. It represents corruption, how money gets hoarded by the limited few.

The second part and thankfully, the most remembered part is the true spirit of the rest of India - The hardworking daily wagers involved in construction, clean-up and doing the bits and pieces that made the event possible - That is what it represents. It also represents our rich culture, tradition, hospitality, willingness and capability to up the ante and most importantly, the empty stands which also represent our ignorance to other sports apart from a game of cricket.
At the end of it all, I am happy because India as a nation has been so true to the entire world in representing what India is all about - Ofcourse, the bottomline being that it costed a lot of money in doing so.
