Well, it is time to rejoice and sip some gourmet coffee.
by Vishnu Sharma on Oct 14, 2010 11:24 PM  | Hide replies

All three parts which I had hoped for in my previous message after the opening ceremony went well....

b) Smooth running of the games with no terrorist attacks or incidents.

c) India finsihing second with a huge haul of Gold medals.

d) A Fantastic closing ceremony.

We definitely have reasons to cheer as Indians today but not forgetting to launch detailed investigations on the corruption and mismanagement issues.

These need to be done to clean up the system.

Wrong. There is little reason for the commoner to cheer as is the case always !

His money has been stolen by those seeking to hide their theft behind the euphoria over the CWG and he has already forgotten about it !!!

Common Wealth Games
by Chirag Chitrapur on Oct 14, 2010 11:22 PM  | Hide replies

When you see the perforances of Indians, It makes you wonder why didnt we have more medals in the past and how many medals we may win in future......

The reason why we dont win medals is very simple...It is not a case that we are not competitive or anythin like that.

We are not able to bear the costs of our counry's sportspersons participating in an international sporting event held out side india. The main reason why we managed to do well is we got many talented people who were able to participate in the games coz they were held in India.

The classic example is our sports woman who wins gold but hails from outside meteros. The question that begs to be asked wud she hav participated if it was held outside india.

Today is a golden opportunity to change all that coz the games and its medals have aoused interest in young india. Today is the chance for the government to stand up and support the sports persons and maybe you might get a gold medal in the olympics in athletic.....you never know......
For me personaally the woman's 4*400 m relay gold was the best. As I heard sum one say......."They ran for thier lives" which sums it all....

The 4 x 400 metres was my favourite too though for a different reason !

Ashwini Chidananda looked so pretty and charming. She has dominated my thoughts ever since !!

What is so great about India winning 38 golds this time ??

India won 30 golds in the Manchester 2002 games. This time, the tally is a little better perhaps due to the home advantage.

What is so great about it ?

Wait till the Asian games medals tally is known later this year !!

It will be proven then that the crow can never become a crane, no matter how many times it takes a bath !!!

Hey Ravi,

Thanks for the message. But I feel you should appreciate the corrupt leaders for that. I would appreciate the Army people who entered in a Save-Our-Souls mode who saved India's respect. We are typical Indians who forget the mistakes of the corrupt leaders and go forward! Even you did the same here! Do you know how much money was poured into this games? and who do you think has to pay back? Do not forget that it's we who has to pay back for all the nonsense done by Suresh Kalamadi, Dixit, PM etc.,

Civilians fail after spending 70K crore? Should we joke on this? Do you know the implications of this spending? Wait and watch! Suresh Kalamdi and Dixit will still be travelling in a Merc Benz car when we slog to pay for their desperate mistakes. Poor Army, does not have any other job? I trust they have better jobs to do.

Who Said Critics are gone?
by Manoj Padikkel on Oct 14, 2010 11:16 PM  | Hide replies

Corruption is corruption. Just because Games happened well, we cannot say that corruption has not happened. Delhites and the whole country has to pay back for the expenses happened for the games in the form of Tax Hikes, Petrol Price hikes and over all price hike in common man's food.

So, I don't see something great in this achievement after spending 70K crore.

All politicians know that Indian people always forget the bad and keep going. So, they enjoy forever!

You are wrong my friend. I love India. That's the reason I criticize. I pity for common people like us who will pay back for the mistake of corrupt politicians and leaders. We should not support corruption whether it is for good cause or bad cause. Do you agree?

UN PATRIOTIC FILM INDUSTRY
by GP BABU on Oct 14, 2010 11:07 PM  | Hide replies

Commonwealth games have come to an end on a successful note. But Unfortunately no film personality has attended it and they avoided it since they will not get any money from these games. They have not attended/witnesses any game but they especially Sharukh, Amitabh, Shilpa Shetty, Preity Zinta kept themselves away from CWG but they proclaim themselves strong supporters of sports. Shameful actors and It is very Shame of Film Industry for not witnessing the Games by purchasing a ticket. The reason none of them invited to perform and did not earn anything from these games.

Yes, definitely it was comparatively a commendable performance by India. I wish the infrastructure created will be maintained and it would be made available to our players for the practice under able supervision and not by the corrupt lot of politicians.
