Rocky IV story
by Paattal Utkado on May 12, 2010 01:30 PM

Great performance by Anand.. one foreign news reporter refered to Anand as Slyvestor Stallone's Rocky IV. Anand was almost completely subdued by the attacking Topalov for most of the match and was almost defeated but rose at the end moment and brilliantly won it. This shows Anand's never die spirit.

The silent performer..
by Yusuf Shaikh on May 12, 2010 10:22 AM

He is one gentleman on whom we can always trust to bring laurels to our country....He is so calm & composed, and manages to achieve the respect of the entire world purely on his playing skills. A through professional.

Must be noted that he TRAVELED nearly 24 hours by ROAD when the organsisers of this event refused to give him time as he had failed to reach the venue as he was stuck due to volcanic ash ! He took the challenge and reached after a long road journey ! Hats off to your dedication Mr.Anand !

Convincing win by Anand
by rocky on May 12, 2010 10:10 AM

The final game was typical of the two players’ styles, Anand prepared to develop quietly while Topalov went looking for adventure. For a few moves Topalov’s pieces were left offside and Anand lashed out, sacrificing material to get to the Topalov king. The sacrifices should never have been accepted but Topalov let down his guard and Anand crashed through to a decisive victory, the only win by a player with the black pieces during the entire match.

Way to go Anand
by Virendra Singh on May 12, 2010 10:02 AM

Hats off to him...
Just showing the world, age doesn't matter. I remember Topalov's comment at the begining of championship that the only difference between two players is the age gap of 5 years. Anand proved that this was Topalov's handicap.
Any way, Topalov proved a worthy nemesis. All the best to him.

Do not joke, Narang. He won't get that kind of status. But being Rajni or Sachin is not the only thing in this world.
Not sure how many non-Indians are aware of Sachin and Rajni (with sincere apologies to their die hard fans), and not sure how many Indians are aware of Vishy.

Spot on Virendra Singh! Vishy is certainly more famous in Europe, where none, I am sure, knows Sachin or Rajni. The fact is, Vishy is the greatest Champion produced by our country while the cricketers are over-paid media created icons of our society!

Again Anand!!!

Congrats Anand. It was a difficult match.Game 12 was very slippery, play of nerves, attacking and well defended by Topalov. At times it looked you are prolonging the game,at move 41 then after getting queen for 2 pieces. But I feel one thing that neither of you played even a single game with e4.Only one game with c4.At this level I was expecting a no of moves to be added to opening theory.d4!!! ,is it best for both of you or you both were afraid of each other's prepation against e4? But any way well done!!!Keep it up.I stillremember when you came for the first time to play National B in 1983 at Ahmedabaad and you were having a pillow at your chair to reach the height of the table and youir mother was standing behind you.I was also a participant there. But alas Indian media both print and electronic have no space and time for you,but again it is their loss.Shabaash.
