Congratulations! though it is a small word for a Grandmaster like you. Hope we make more of Anand and encourage youngsters to become like you some day and make us more proud.
This is one of the greatest achievements in sports of this country. We are proud of you Anand. It is a pity that his achievement is not given its due attention by the media. I hope the sports ministry recognizes what it takes to be the world champion (four times) and reward Anand accordintly.
Chess was invented in India, so Indians should know it best. Dear Anand, you have prooved this to world that Indians still know the best of the game they invented. All colonial games and newspapers are always gaga over their acheivements. This is purely Indian and I can assure you many of us (not all) are proud of you.
Hi it was really proudy for Indians that anand had brings up the leurels for ouyr country.Govt should take initiative to promote chess instead of wasting such a huge money for cricket.other games like hockey, football are the matter to be take care of.
Imagin: Our politicians take initiatives to grant schoolership to the Disstrict champions in the field of Boxing, Chess, Swiming, Atheletics, Wrestling instead of taking thousands crores cut-money spent on Cricket, Football and Hockey!
May ALL your wishes come true, like how you became Grandmaster at age 18, how you won many championships in your illustrious career in multiple formats - regular, rapid play, blindfold etc.
Thank you for giving us a good, brilliant news.
Trust us, though many don't understand chess intricacies, you are most loved sportsman of India.
Followed all your games in this Championship. I could see how difficult the games were, and how well you adapted and shone.
The TOI,Mumbai edition has carried this acheivement in some remote page. On the other hand when Sachin's Son,leave alone Sachin, holds a toy bat his picture is flashed on the front page upper central portion. This media at its madness
