Congrats Anand. It was a difficult match.Game 12 was very slippery, play of nerves, attacking and well defended by Topalov. At times it looked you are prolonging the game,at move 41 then after getting queen for 2 pieces. But I feel one thing that neither of you played even a single game with e4.Only one game with c4.At this level I was expecting a no of moves to be added to opening theory.d4!!! ,is it best for both of you or you both were afraid of each other's prepation against e4? But any way well done!!!Keep it up.I stillremember when you came for the first time to play National B in 1983 at Ahmedabaad and you were having a pillow at your chair to reach the height of the table and youir mother was standing behind you.I was also a participant there. But alas Indian media both print and electronic have no space and time for you,but again it is their loss.Shabaash.

ONE MAN ARMY-AND WORLD CHAMPION
by surajit som on May 12, 2010 09:41 AM

here is a one-man army . in eastern europe and russia ,chess is a product of massive state-sponsorship.topalov belongs to that school. anand has beaten them all single handedly. at the same our cricketers-most pampered and richest in the country- were routed by their opponents in three successive games in the T20 world cup and thrown out of the competition !!! make your own comparision !!!

Abhinandan Anand

Any word of appreciation would be less for you.It is difficult to be world champion. It is further difficult when after winning people say it's a truncated world championship. Then you won the undivided world championship, not for making critiques mum as they certaily had some role in bringing you in higher preparedness. Then you defended the title again and again,to surpass yourself as the champion. It shows the man when you showed real respect to your opponent Topalov. You could have done it otherwise if you thought it like many others. Thanks Anand- the spirit of Indianness, the same state of mind in all conditions after initial pour of emotion, the settledness of mind that the Gita proclaimed has been demonstrated by you.
