INDIAN TEAM ESCAPED FROM LOSS
by babran on Mar 08, 2010 11:23 PM

I am surprised by the senior players performance in this series so far.Arjun Halapa missed two penalty corner chances in today's match. Not only now.Indian team failed to convert penalties in to goal. This one has to be taken seriously.

Well played India
by Jay on Mar 08, 2010 11:13 PM  | Hide replies

India played well in patches in all matches and scored at least two goals against all opponents and all the goals were good. Despite the lack of support system and infrastructure, the players did their best to match the best in the world. At least the show was much better than how India fared in the last ODI and T20 cricket world cups.

If genuine effort is made by the government we can start getting better in sports and games. A total revamp of the sports administration in the country is required and detailed planning has to be in place for that.

Exactly. Now worst they can do is finish 8th which is going to be better position than last 3 world cups where their best effort was 9th position in 1998.

After a fantastic win against Pakistan, i think our players were complasance. But the team can improve under Brasa, because we see in every match they scored. But politics should be stop with our national game if we are to survive

I think Shivendra's absence in 2 matches after victory against Pak was a big loss which India could never recover.

Today also Shivendra made a difference as he scored a goal in the last minutes.

Dear Mr. Brasa

Sandeep Singh,Prabjoth Singh and Deepak Thakur are certainly to be put out of the team. I wonder coach Brasa found captaincy potential in Prabjoth?
Certain deserves for the commonwealth games are Gurbax, Shivendra, Chandi, Vikram Pillai, Arjun, sarwan and GKs.
What the Indian players lack the most is ball control and trapping of ball. These seniors cannot be trained for that. Hence do it at subjunior level and junior level. And aim next junior world cup and not the commonwealth. With the present set of players we can aim only for the Asian level be it Asia cup or Asian Games.
As Rick Charlesworth pointed out total infrastructure and the system of hockey in India is to be revamped.Start Hockey academies in each state and provide Astroturf to each district.

Rajpal Singh was Captain. I really don't think captaincy makes much difference in Hockey though

I fully agree. In high speed games like Hockey, football etc captaincy does not matter.

Captaincy matters in slow games like criket where you have plenty of time to think and strategize.

Brasa was vying for Prabjoth as Captain and even conducted an unofficial voting among players against the selector,s choice of Rajpal. And what I basically challenged was the slot of Prabjoth in the team itself not captaincy. When Brasa selected him as the captain he will become certain in the team

Who is money minded!

Cricket players earn 2-4 lakhs per match and crores from endorsement. They get sold in market for crores.

Hockey players get Rs 10,000 per match in world cup and Rs 5,000 in international matches.

IPL is manoranjan kaa baap, a TV show with manipulated pathetic pitch and old old substandard players who just play for TV Ads. As all the teams r below par, that is not cricket, just ad platform and medium for indian businessman to convert black money to white.
