Re: BCCI vs IHF

i think it is an unfair comparision to make by comparing Singh with the Bhajji incident. Get a move on guys - these things are part and parcel of sport... there are 10 other fellos who need to to the job
I went to see the India/Pak match. It was very heartining to see the young crowd cheering for india. The atmosphere was amazing. I hope india reaches the semi finals atleast and if they do then Hockey will not die in India
Looks like Ken Read has stamped himself as the Darrell hair of Hockey. He has made a mockery and joke about himself. First calls it delibrate when no one complained Second puts a 3 match ban Third reduces it to a 2 match ban. on what logic? So we should expel Ken read for making a hasty decision, "delibrately", and puttting a 3 match ban..... Maybe he cant read anwyays...
Nobody complained. Pak team didnt complain after the match. The on field umpires didnt have any problem with Shivendra's stick. So what's the problem with Ken Read. I have seen Shivendra in action twice in matches he played in my city Hyderabad in India. He is a gem of a player and a very very neat, "gentleman" player (someone like a Rahul Dravid) who always plays by the rules only and never fouls or harms someone on playing field.
The match referee himself said that Shivendra Singh should have been handed a 4-match suspension but it was decided to reduce it to only 3, given Shivendra's track record of not having earned a single card in 110 matches so far. (Now after appeal from India that 3 match ban is reduced to 2 and most importantly this goal scoring lad of India will miss the match against Australia, so Read being Aussie match referee will be smiling from inside as its one scare less for Aussies when they take on India. (Though Aussies won't take it easy with SANDEEP SINGH our amazing penatlty corner drag flick exponent, VIKRAM PILLAY and PRABHJOT SINGH(very fast runners on the turf and great finishers and passers as well).
But still we will miss Shivendra, an awesome striker in the D. I have seen this guy on the field and he is strikingly amazing, the way he plays with passion and fire to perform for TEAM INDIA in his head under that bandana of his.
I feel one match ban or penalizing his 1 match fee was enough rather than this harsh one. Too bad FIH.

we have more than 100 players like Shivendra then no need to panic and discourage our team. Useless writers giving thier opinion. Donot worry team india ,You will win.
all these atrocities will be kept in mind. the western countries right now are facing the heat from islamic countries and others like china, all these countries would not have forgotten the atrocities committed by the erstwhile bullies. our time will come, and we have to make sure these insults count.

western countries are facing the heat from Islamic countries..????!! What about India??? Are you enjoying the cool breeze from Islamic countries?? Were India a BULLY?? Its because of people like you, Indians are getting ill teated in foreign countries. You try to make your own rules and try to impose them on others and end up being kicked in the A_S_S. Then you cry out loud from the roof top that all others are racial, or bullies and all other C_R_A_P.. Loser...go get a life.... else join STAR NEWS as "Special Correspondent."
This is a typical way of demoralising a TEAM which gave a splendid performance. The other countries are now scared and wanted to ensure that the rythmn is broken by the intervention of the Match Refree who happens to be an Australian. Its a mind game of psycholically damaging ones opponent before crucial encounter....India plays Australia today. Is there an Appellate body? Can Hockey India appeal against the decision of two match suspension? These are indirect attempt to demoralise an in form Team as there is a good possibility of India going thru to the finals. Its happening just like in circket. Intolerable. the reduction of 3 suspension to two suspension does not have any logic. If it can be reduced then why the suspension at all. And what is "deliberate" supposed to mean. "Deliberate" is a state of mind and cannot be interpreted by an umpire unless there is clinching evidence. The reduction in suspension itself proves that the umpire is not sure of the commission of the alleged offence, hence, the suspension order should be revoked. The video clearly shows that there is no such intention to hit, hence how can the same be termed as deliberate. Hockey India should appeal, these kind of punishments are rather "DELIBERATE" to keep down the sub-continent hockey. If it was a 'deliberate' hit as alleged then the on field umpire on receipt of complaint from the Pak player could have suspended Shivendra for rest of the match. The entire punishment is an after thought.
