It is indeed very sad.Why can't the payments be made on time.And why is that players have to make such demands-why is the payment not made on it's own.Money- if any owed by Hockey body to players should be paid immediately and players be asked to prepare for World Championship in right earnest.It is a matter of country's pride and right now let the players just focus on games and meeting if any called should be cancelled and players should just be asked to concentrate on practice.
Despiter prolonged pampering and icon atatus to even average level cricketers their standars is so low. But we continue to blindly support cricket with un due obsession. It virtually killed almost all games/spotrs and talents in this worlds largest democracy.
D. Goel Pkl. afternoon,3.25pm, Friday, 8th Jan . 2010. Iam plading that Hockey Players should not be made to run from Pillar to Post for their Player's Dues and Incentivs by officious Sports Estts. In case Indian Hockey is not rising up over yrs . it is time that Sports Ministry takes the interests of Players itself with great diligence and ensure the sport of Legendary Dhyan Chand once again gain some glory.

why is this called national sport anyways....It is not given any special treatment by the government. leave aside special, it is not given a decent treatment. The common public does not relate to this game. There are more followers of football than hockey in India. Unless, the government gives it is a genuine "national" sport status,( which means grants, stadiums and promotions like as you suggested events like IPL), I refuse to accept that this is anywhere close to a national sport.

Nepotism, Favouratism, Regionalism, dominated sports...who has time to search best talented players in the game. Game will die automatically...
Pele,Zico,Maradona,Hadi,Stoicvich,Belanov, backanbara, Yohan Cryf, Ronaldo, Ronaldino,Zidan made footbal survive. similarly Art of hocky last witnessed in Dhanraj Pilley Hockey Stick after Shabaj Ahmed or Mohammed Shahid who made this game exciting. Now no skills no players only garbage in Hocky administration produces garbage.

For god sake, please do not call this our national sport. I have been listening this since the last 25 years..and I have seen two generations; been in many cities in India; played many sports but have never seen any love for hockey in people's minds. The word "national" is underminded and disgraced when you associate it with Indian hockey...Indian hockey is an ordinary sport.it cannot arouse "national" passions as cricket or to some extent football can do..we have no major tournaments victories in last 25 years...except for 1 Asian and 1 Ajlan Shah..It is time, we stop fooling ourselves and not have any national sport at all..what difference does that make except for some lines missing in school children books...they should not be fooled as I was done 25 years ago..
Our Cricket team is struggling against the weaker teams also.A win against a weaker team is coming good with our cricket fans.But Our Hockey team got 3rd place is a good sign.Encourage Hockey team also.

Hockey cannot be our naitonal sport..I have lived in many cities in India and played many sports except hockey...you know why because there no facilities and infrastructure and no lovers of this game. Ask yourselves honestly, do you watch a hockey match when India is playing Australia.
If it is Rs. 25000 for every tournament it's a joke. I hope it is Rs. 25000 per match. How can anyone dedicate their life to play national hockey if the payment is so low and that too they are not paid in time? And Mattoo want's to 'understand' what the greviences are which means he doesn't know that this guys haven't been paid and that that is the issue!!!

i think 25000 is advance that they get before leaving..... which kind of helps them for reqd. travel purchases etc.
i agree with you that "generally" they are paid very less

what is so surprising in this..If a person who has no knowledge of sports is made head of any sports, then this will happen.. I wonder, he might reduce the hockey team from 11 to 7/8 to balance the salaries...
Hockey players/officials and some sections of blame that cricket is given more credit...but whenever we are expecting our hockey team to win..it disappoints us.Cricketers atleast give us something to rejoice at.So IHF instead of blaming others should first win some matches people will automatically be attracted towards it and so sholud our sponserors
i was able to go to exiled online and get the pages seem slike anil is on a killing spree.first he tries it on his bro and then ysr..If this information is true.. then it is very risky...Just because he is a richest person can media just keep quite ..?
