Good venture ...

Yes, life for the sportsmen or women is never easy. But life for the sports administrators is cosy. Just because they have the political connections, they can rule their fiefdoms for life. Break that jinx before you approach the people for donations.
We have learnt that places in Indian hockey team are for sale. We have seen reports of sexual harassment of female athletes.
If the people donate, will there be any transparency in the organization's accounts? More often than not, the 'administrative' expenses of the NGO will be more than the actual money spent on needy athletes.
I believe that the best way is to go and convince the business leaders for sponsorship, organize sports meets with imagination and bring the sport to a popular level.
Why cannot other games achieve the popularity of cricket in India? It is how the administrators market the sport, take it to the school level, encourage the kids to participate and organize well at all levels.
You need some dedicated and unselfish individuals to do that.

Why people blame Cricket?
by ASHOK IYER on Dec 14, 2010 05:12 PM  | Hide replies

Do not beg money for the champions. Ask Kalmadi to pay for that from what he got. People after paying taxes over taxes have taken enough burden. Don't tax public for anything and every thing.
I am not against paying Rs 100/-. But I am against the person/organisation who is asking for the money. Get the examples from other countries. if the nation cannot support them, tel them. They will find some ways to live and prosper.

I would rather say Congress party instead of Kalmadi.
By mentioning Kalmadi, you get your bad guy where as all the other Great congress leaders manage to pose as honest ones.
Kalmadi is just a broker.

Dictionary of sports ministry
by purna chander on Dec 14, 2010 02:54 PM

The dictionary of sports according to ministry of sports is having only one alphabet "C" which stand for cricket, corruption. Why is that ministry of sports is unable to control/regulate BCCI where as it dictates terms for rest of the sports. Why alienating other sports.

Congrats to Gold Quest.
But dont show the world that indian sportsperson are underprivileged and need to be supported by general public. Fight for justice, get their due from the ministry of sports. Atheletes representing the country have their rights, support for their cause.

India is rich enough to support all sportsmen
by kumar jr on Dec 14, 2010 02:31 PM

India is rich enough to support all sportsmen, there is no such requirement to support anyone by collecting 100 from all ..... Only right people need to head the sports ministry and provide them real support
