Fools. How do you expect people to give more when they have nothing themselves? 80% of their earnings is taken away by govt as Taxes (or National Revenue, Sales Tax, this Tax & that) & the rest is taken away by Businessmen whose unsatiable greed makes them increase the prices every day. Ultimately, the common man is left with nothing in his hand but the loans he has to take due to this sit on his head as excess.

On top of that, the Taxes & National revenue is utilised to the full by Politicians for Personal Development rather than National Development. Sports is a National Priority & funds are alloted for it. If the Politicians don't want to utilise it for Sports, it's they who are wholly responsible for the Debacle of Sports in India. They have to be eliminated, then; why burden the already dead common man? Utilise the Swiss Accounts of thge Ministers if we're so concerned for Sports in India.

Miss Priya, instead of paying these guys Rs 100, why don't we ask the Chori Government of India to allocate some funds to sportspersons. It is the moral duty of the Government to encourage the sportspersons and not individual organisations.

Oh...I am no Miss!!!
We have a good govt. who has done a lot for this country. I hope they will a do a lot by getting those involved in the loot, though some loots are speculative.

You should know how much Govt. has spent for the athletes, which was reflected in their performance in CWG and Asian games.

I pay Rs. 2.4 lacs per annum in taxes.

The GOI's sports budget as per Rediff, is $ 11 Billion, which is approx., Rs. 49,500 Cr. May I humbly ask this government or any of its supporters / washers, who may accuse me of eating, belching & passing comments, as to where this small amount of money is going?

I'm willing to contribute, not Rs. 100, but Rs. 100,000.00 for sports persons from India, I have the money, trust me. My only condition is the Sports minstry be dissolved and the administrators therein be terminated from employment, forthwith.

You are paying the tax is not a gift to nation. You are paying in exchange to the citizenship of this country. While remaining a citizen of the country, you have the access to such benefits which allowed you to be eligible to pay the mentioned tax amount.

This figure of $ 11 Billion is a wrong one. If that is the case India would have a super power in sports. The total allocation of fund in health is way below this figure.

But what ever little they are spending is appropriate in proportion to our immediate priorities.

BTW, get some information. Paying tax is NOT a requirement for citizenship of this country. Taxes are paid, on taxable income.

The beggar on the street is as much a citizen as me, at least the parasitic classes, i.e. politicians, bureacrats & government servants (that last which I think you belong to), have not been able to take away that right from our poor.

The right to citizenship.

I have info. I know who pays and who does not. You bragged about paying taxes, that's why I wrote back. The tax paid by you is proportionate to your growth in the ability to pay taxes by remaining a citizen of India. That is the cost u need to pay to stay in India, do business or job in India and become eligible to pay taxes in India.
I think most of us here are paying taxes in the same proportion and I don't believe paying taxes is a gift to the nation.

Again wrong.

The tax paid y me is prorportionate to my earnings, as per the taxation laws. It is NOT the cost to stay in India.

Public servants doing their work is not a gift to the nation, its their job, which they are NOT doing.

"But what ever little they are spending is appropriate in proportion to our immediate priorities"

The Congress led UPA government spent Rs. 70,000 Crores on the CWG!!!!!

What ARE our immediate priorities?

What are the benefits which allowed me to be eligible to pay the mentioned tax amount?
1) To get shot by terrorists at will?
2) To watch A. Raja win the world Corruption Games, hands down? Making South American / African dictators look like pick pockets?
3) Watch the world laugh at my nation in general, at our performance in any sports event at a world level?

BTW, the BJP or CPM or whater dalit party are no better than Congress. Its just less opportunity that makes them less corrupt (possibly) than the Congress.

Any, your'e a confirmed hypocrite & politician's washer. Your grasp over English shows you've been educated in the medium and your not dumb, but the turn of phrase exposes you for what you are, a bureacrat, a government servant, growing fat on the Indian tax payers' money.

WTF is sports ministry doing
by mohammed ulhaq on Dec 14, 2010 10:43 AM  | Hide replies

Finally a private organisation has proved to be productive with no significant sponsors. Then why do we require sports ministry as anyway everyone wants a postion in BCCI. Now it is evident that these ministers had been killing the sports talent in our country all these years.

You are wrong. Utterly misinformed. Ask any person who have done wonders for India in CWG or Asian games, they will definitely say the reality. This time for these two evenyts govt. has sanctioned more than 700 crore rupees for training of these athletes. More and more people are being sent to overseas to train and participate in international competitions. The result is because of that only.

Don't make a habit of deriding politicians as everybody is a stake holder in building this nation.

PT, I accuse you at the very least of being dumb, and the very worst of having vested interests in the sports ministry, UNLESS Rediff & you, have screwed up badly with your facts & figures.

1) You say GOI spent Rs. 700 Cr. for CWG & Asian Games.
2) Rediff says, GOI sports budget is & 11 Bn, which is approx. Rs. 49,500 Cr.

So the GOI spent, 1.41% of its annual budget for training of these two events. So where's the remaining, 98% going? Are we training for other events, like what? The world gulli danda championship?

I hope you are aware, Cricket is a revenue Generating activity, not expense.

If Rediff & your figures are correct, then I accuse you at best of stupidity & worst of having vested political interests.

1) You say GOI spent Rs. 700 Cr. Training for CWG & Asiad.
2) Rediff says GOI's sports budget is $ 11 Bn, i.e. Rs. 49,500 Cr.

So GOI spent 1.41% of its annual budget on training! Where's the remaining 98% going?

Are we preparing for the world Gulli Danda Championships?

In case your not aware, Cricket is a revenue item, NOT an expense item.
