This is the first blog where all the bloggers have the humility to accept that the Anand is indeed an undisputed world champion of the sport.

A Diwali gift
by Atreya Sarma Uppaluri on Oct 27, 2008 09:32 AM

The prestigious championship is a Diwali gift by Anand to his country, as well as to his parents, to his wife, and of course to himself. No amount of words would describe the gratitude and admiration that Anand richly deserves.

Anand at his best
by mg on Oct 27, 2008 09:30 AM  | Hide replies

When Anand burst into the scenes of international chess, people watching at the speed of his play, also nicknamed him 'Lightning Kid'. Even against top GMs he was taking only half the time of his opponents to make the moves.
Even in game 9, Anand had just 27 mins to make the next 20 moves to make it to the time control. It was at this stage that his lightning speed game play came handy.
Even a draw in today's match number 10, will take his score to 6.5 required to win the world chess championship.

Dear mg, thanks for the information about 27 min to make 20 moves - I don't think many understand the kind of form Anand is in or has been in. Adding to his natural winning abilities in World Chess championships, he has won a bunch of blindfold chess tournaments which shows that he lives and breathes Chess.

100s of youngsters play chess now because they have Vishy in front of them.10000000s of youngsters play cricket with Sachin in front of them. But Sachin plays for 17 years so few youngsters get chance so they go to ICL and BCCI bans them and Sachin does not support them at all He just keeps on playing for himself.Live life for others not for yourself Come on Sachin sow that you have got GUTS to tell BCCI that they should allow ICL cricketers to play in BCCI tournaments

For the first time, Rediff has posted this at the Top and also published the moves. Some improvement at last, but by the end of the day, Kim sharma or Amar Singh will become more important.
