how you expect players who are playing just for peanuts.give then kind of money our cricketrs have and see results. Its easy to criticise , but see under the carpet.what kind of support, money, training and conditions they play.how many of us sit and watch a hocky match.how much of media attention they get.cricket has sent all other sports to nadir.

instead of banning, fix match fees, stop over excess of incentive given to cricket players and put this extra money in some other games...
and most importantly make BCCI under governemnt organisation so that money can be sent to other sport boards.
In fact there should be a board which manages all sport bords such and then the money raised by individual boards such as by BCCI or Hockey board should reach to central board and then this central board could use the money effectively (and mostly importantly where needed)

That would ruin cricket as well. Instead teach the boards how to market their sport. Learn it from BCCI.

Cricket is not longer a sport. It is a kind of entetainment, like a movie on the screen.

You can not make other sport like that.

They can't do much. Cricketers are not dependent on Govt for anything so to say. they generate a lot of revenue. May be hockey needs to find a way to do that. May be have regular touring seasons like cricket and see how that goes. Now point stopping cricket just because we suck bigtime in hockey

Why do you think that one sport can kill other...cant we be good in more than one sports? There r contries which are good in multiple sports. No game can be forced to the people. It is the responsibility of the respective sports body and the players to make the game more popular.

That is not an excuse at all.
The main problem with Indian sport is that we feel that for one sport to do well, we need some other to go down !
Look at teams like Australia who have excelled in most sports.

Lack of money is only a minor issue and again you cannot blame Cricket or BCCI for that.
Teams like Ghana,Togo,Ivory Coast qualify for the football World Cup ! Do they earn millions ?

There is quite a lot of money involved in hockey now with the PHL being a prominent part of the season.

The IHF has to take the blame and its time for KPS Gill to leave the scene. He has done his bit to ruin the national sport and the last thing we must do is to put the blame on cricket.
The easiest thing that the IHF can do is to blame cricket for Hockey`s downfall.
Accept the fact that there will be one sport in every country which will be more popular than the others. Its Cricket in India, just like its Soccer in Brazil and England.

Shahrukh Khan will not do anything good for hockey. He is cricket centric. Making a film with girls is different thing.

If he loves hockey, he can sponsor a team in PHL. Instead he has chosen to sponsor a cricket team.

His intention is obvious, hockey has no commercial value for him.

Yeah friend, it is very much true. After all, everybody wants to make money. SRK is no exception. why will he invest his money in such a game there is little possiblity of profit? When govt. & sports ministry don't care why would any body else? It hurts to see Hockey in
this condition!

There is no sense at all in what you are saying. Bhajji is not at fault. What do you mean by god is penalising all singhs? then why god is punishing other players(non Singh) in Hockey team? Then god should punish all players in other countries' team also.

The debacle in Indian Hockey is in a way linked to starting of Premier Hockey League. After this league, we failed to qualify for the Olympics- what a shame. After EPL started performance of English football team has gone down and they did not qualify for Euro also. The best Professional Cricket league with maximum one day matches and 20-20 is English County Cricket. We all know how bad England performs in one day and 20-20. This indicates that once Indian Premier League (IPL) is started Indian Cricket will also go down in performance. To win needs competetive spirit. When your opponent (say Ind-Aus or Ind-Pak) is playing in the same league team as you then the competitive spirit is lost

How can you link England football team's inability to qualiy with English premier league?

EPL is more than 100 years old, and England have won and lost during that period. Also all major european countries have football leagues like EPL, yet Italy has won so many titles. I guess the league has nothing to do with the national team's results. It is the quality of players to blame.

Seriously, sack the autocratic Gill.
Under him Indian Hockey has plummetted to new lows.
He is responsible for this mess, and refuses to take any positive steps.

Kick the old bugger out.
