it is this sort of controversy which is keeping sports other than cricket not flourishing in this country, honestly even paes or for that matter bhupathi is taking advantage of their position.

Bhupathi has ego problem. Sania is getting spoiled under him. He is only a professional playing for money and not country unlike paes.
Just imagine when they both were going great guns could have been a lethal doubles player in the world but for bhupathis egoism, he split, he cant get along with anyone and now he is trying to create divide the players. He should not be allowed to have a say in any matters relating to matches played for India. Let him not carry indian flag if he wins any slam or any international event for he isnt patriotic.

Are you sure Mr.RR,

The people involved were all adults and knew what is good and bad for them. We should not judge based on Dr.Vece's comments, on behalf of his son. What happened is quite unfortunate and unnecessary. If Bhupathi has ego problem same goes to Leander as well. Let the Tennis Association take of care of this issue. We need not fight without knowing what happened actually. Let us be matured before commenting on others.

Oh Yaar Bhupathi stop politics in sports..play for the company!
by Karthik Madhavan on Feb 26, 2008 11:10 AM

Bhupathi should stop influencing his fellow team mates to join his politics. It%u2019s a sad movement for sportsmanship. Grow up! It%u2019s not kindergarten%u2026Wake up! Play for the country. I guess Paes captaincy will not stop bhupathi by serving an ace. So bhupathi%u2019s concern should be on paying only..not on Paes captaincy.

problems... problems
by sk on Feb 26, 2008 11:07 AM  | Hide replies

Hi Guys... I sincerely feel we should stop relatives (mum, dad, uncle, niphew etc..) of players to give comments.. it will definitely spoil the game. Let the players, board decide on what needs to be done... Paes is good player but it doesnot mean that he can take everybody for a ride and spoil the game. Let others also grow and work for country.. if something is wrong with somebody, let him discuss with them and convince instead of one sided decisions.. it will definetely spoinl the professionalism of the game.

My two cents...

well said, No body can question the integrity of Paes. He is to Indian Tennis what Sachin is to Indian Cricket. Bhupati is a wonderful player but suffers from ego problem. All others like Prakash, Boppanna etc. etc. are just kids. They should first earn some stature then show their starry attitudes. They just don't have the standing to talk against Paes.

Hello Boy,

Read the column properly before you post comments. Its an interview with team doctor Dr. Vece Paes, on why Prakash Amritraj was not allowed to play.
Co-incedence is that Dr.Peas is Leander's father.

the news item is as if the culprit is mahesh but here we see all the blame on leander peas, so it is an unfair rediff headlines about mahesh, whereas we see leander peas is out of steam and wants a come back, i feel we are wasting time and energy on leander peas, on a minority card like we played with azharudin, so this is game no secularisium politics, soon you will the govt shooting the sania card, both are fearing the useless fatwas.

ITs guys like you who are dividing the country on religious line. Check the record and its Leander who brought davis cup glory to india and not other so called majority players inspite of having better ranking than leander. You divides the country on religious line and then blame raj thackeray for dividing it on regional line. Why don't u just stay in USA and don't poke ur nose in our countries affair

leander was the non playing captain and did well not allowing to play prakash on day 1 as per rule the no. 1 should play the no.2 and then reverse. Since somdev was no.2 he played the no.1 on day and lost as perdicted but the next match rohan won against the no. 2 which was what leander might have accepted so the final day prakash played the no.2 again and won the tie for india. None of the India could have won against the no. 1 of uzbek. Leander did well as captain. Prakash hasn't won much of the matches for india even when he is playing player below his ranking. First he should improve his game and then complain about others. Same with rohan he is thinking he can be in bupathy camp and gain much but look at sania she does well when bupathy is not there around

Let AITA drop both Prakash and Rohan. We dont need them if they have some problem with the captain. They can give a chance to other talented upcoming players.
Thanks Prakash.. Thanks Rohan.. Thats the door..

Drop Amrutraj & Bopanna
by Sunil Karkhanis on Feb 26, 2008 09:32 AM  | Hide replies

I think it is high time now when Prakash Amrutraj & Rohan Bopanna who are supposed to be a C grade tennis players , needed to be dropped on the ground of their commitment towards country. Neighter Amrutraj nor Bopanna can match Leander in any sense when compared. We should ask Amrutraj to go n play for USA where he lives. No need to talk about Bopanna , he is a true C grade player who is overrated in India.

Leander is the first passionate Indian Tennis player
by Ananth Kesari on Feb 26, 2008 09:25 AM  | Hide replies

Leander is the first passionate Indian Tennis player. Of course we had Ramananathan & Ramesh Krishnans, Vijay & Anand Amritrajs. But Paes is the first passionate guy out there. I have seen him play right from the beginning of his career and he is really committed. You can't fool such things on court in front of the whole nation. And even if you fool, you cannot win a match like Leander won the match against Pakistan. That was real absolute great miracle. I remember, once Vijay Amritraj also won a match from defeat. But this guy Leander has done more. He doesn't deserve this. Mahesh, come on. Behave like a professional. Even I am from Bangalore, but I condemn your actions from the behind instigating the younger players to go against Leander.
