One day Cricketers will revolt against Dhoni
by Mohit on Feb 25, 2008 11:18 AM  | Hide replies

This is Dhoni for you.
Winner of the 20-20 World cup in South Africa.
Holds record for the highest runs by wicket keeper.
Captain of the Indian cricket Team after only 2 years in International cricket.

For the last 7 matches India has played under him in Australia, India has won only 2 and 2 have been rained out. So we have lost only 3 matches and only one match was lost by a huge margin against Australia when India could not make 203. Rest 2 matches have been very close ones%u2014one of which was curtailed due to rain and D/L method decided the fate of the match.
After very match, we hear some or the other excuse made for the loss and also during the win. Some time you are accusing Sehwag and throwing him out, at other times you are crying against Rohit Sharma for running you out(when you could have run) and now the greatest%u2014you have pointed your fingers against the seniors. (There are only 3 seniors left in the Indian team at present after he has packed the other 3 to India). Stop whining after every match. ODI or cricket is a team game played by eleven players. Sometimes there is a gain, sometimes there is a loss. Just because you are a captain, you cannot accuse other players in front of the media. The media in India is make-or-break. When India wins, it hails you as great and when she looses, it is all hell gone wrong. BCCI should restrain Dhoni at the earliest and show him to some psychologist to control his mind and brain. He does not seem to be a captain

REVOLT AGT. PAES
by subru krishnan on Feb 25, 2008 10:39 AM  | Hide replies

THIS ISSUE IS JUST LIKE PAKISTAN CRICKETERS WHO REVOLTED AGT. WASIM AKRAM WHEN HE WAS MADE THE CAPTAIN 4 THE 1ST TIME. BUT LATER ON AKRAM WITH HIS CONTRIBUTION & CHARISMA CAME BACK STRONGLY TO LEAD PAKISTAN ONCE AGAIN AND IT WAS UNDER HIS TENURE THAT PAKISTAN BECAME WORLD BEATERS. AFTER HIS RETIREMENT LOOK AT THE FATE OF PAKISTAN CRICKET NOW. SO I DO HOPE common sense prevails which is vastly needed for Indian Tennis. Paes being fr, Kol just like Ganguly is bound to show his power, tricks etc. Time and again we have seen Ganguly sidelining quality palyers like S.Ramesh,Tinu Youhanan,S.Bangar,A.Chopra etc. Paes also doing the same thing. His end is very near it seems like Ganguly.

No comparisons pls. We all know the lax attitude of S Ramesh, S Bangar and Tinu was not worth a team cap. Ganguly was way ahead of all others, if u don't know anything about cricket, pls do not comment, better to keep yr mouth shut!

Leander we love you

Well its really very very heartfelt sorry feeling to see such a situation against the man who gave India a spot of recognisation in the world tennis after Vijay Amritraj ! does any one remember what he did to Andre Aggasi even in the match he lost... does anyone remember India winning a medal in Olympics...with a population of over 100 crores... he gave us what all of us couldnt give this country... If he played some new comer in davis cup putting aside no1 player.. whats the issue.. when will the new comers get exposed to this professional circuit.. when will they earn points and raise their rankings so that even they get a chance to play in other grand slams like events... its this thing that is hurting these 4 players.. not that they are above paes but his decision of exposing new players to international arena is depriving other players (4 of them ) from earning points and making to the last page of dailies...! if they are so confident let them rise to the occassion.. let them first contribute if not more than leander.. atleast half of what he has given... may god bless these revolts with SADBUDDHI !!! oh god help those poor chaps

You are absolutely right.. Leander is the best.. He is the best player India has ever had after Vijay Amritraj and he is one player who really plays for the country... When it comes to playing for the country he plays his heart out and gives everything he has in him... Am sure he will make a very good captain and people who do not want to play under him should be removed.. What does Prakash Amritraj know about playing for India when he does not even live here.. No doubt his Father was one of the best players of the country, but Prakash is no good.. I have seen him play and practise and he doesn%u2019t have the commitment..He gets all the credit just because he is Vijay%u2019s son.. If anybody is to be removed, it must be him as he does not know what it is to play for the country..

Lee - the Best
by Shamik Ghosh on Feb 25, 2008 10:16 AM

Its the conspiracy of Bhupathy and his company Globesport ! After ill-advising Sania , this Bhupathy is now out again to spoil India's chances in Davis Cup ... he is the culprit behind all this ... he has sown the seeds of discontentment among these youngstars ... a thorough investigation must be done by AITA and the guilty should be punished .... however if PAes is at fault somehow, he should also acknowkledge it and move out of the team for the betterment ... there is no question of discarding the young players , they should be properly counselled and advised ... Prakash and Bopanna are very good players ... its only Bhupathy who is pulling the strings ....

Common interest
by V SIVAKUMAR on Feb 25, 2008 10:03 AM

Such misunderstandings are bound to be there in a team. But that should not be allowed to come in the way of putting up a strong team.

It is advisable that all players concerned sit and talk this issue over a cup of tea under the guidance of on of the senior member like Ramesh Krishnan and sort out their difference.

Let us not forget that playing for India in Davis cup is most important commitment that is expected from the players and they should not shy away from that on under any circumstance.

Let good sence prevail. Jai Hind.

Leander Paes,The ultimate warrior
by GIREESH MM on Feb 25, 2008 09:34 AM  | Hide replies

Paes is not a talented Tennis player.
But he is one of the Greatest fighter Indian sports ever seen.
He has beaten many many top stars in the Davis cup.
He has won an Olympics medal(bronze as ordinary people says, but for men who has seen and remember his heroics it was better than Gold).
He has won many Asian games gold medals.
He was world No.1 in Doubles.
He has won an ATP tour title.
He has beaten Pete Sampras,Sergi bruguera etc. not only No.2 players as AMUL babies said.
So if these babies will not play under Paes, let them go away. We have other better players. If noone comes, Paes will RETURN with a racket.Because he is the ultimate fighter. He will never surrender.!!!!
For his followers,

This is nothing better than what Dhoni said and did. Out of 4 matches without Ganguly and Dravid, what Dhoni gained.Nothing. He thought experience is nothing. Now he is biting the dust. He himself is curtailed to less than 100 in all the matches he has played with these duo, the so called 'young blood' did not give him support. His attitude is not better than Paes. We surely can live and win without Paes who considers himself demiGod. Just count. Bhupati, Sania and all these four. He is not fit to be a captain of these youngsters.Keep him away from them.

Paes has always put country before self, remember you dont get paid for Davis Cup or the Olympics or the Asian Games medals. He could have played professional tennis and taken the money insted of representing the country in these matches. Even Sampras, Agassi and the other so called greats of tennis seldom put their country before themselves. Questioning his commitment for the Country is strange (for the lack of a better word).

They should never question his commitment.. He is the best India has ever had and i dont think Prakash Amritraj will achieve even 1% of what he has achieved... He should be ashamed of what he has done, especially as he was a US national until last year..

Paes have given lots of commitment, there is no doubt about that. for eg: the last match against pakisthan last year, paes was injured during the game, but he manages well and fought back to win the match and saved india from relegation.

Paes should not get miffed up. We saw this happen in the film "Chak de India" where the girls all ganged up against Kabir Khan their coach. However, better sense prevailed and the girls and their coach later got rewarded on the astro turf. My point is AILTA should back Paes and if required discard the likes of Bhupati, Bopanna and Amriraj Jr. After all discipline and commitment are the two most important things in sports and for that Leander's integrity is beyond doubt.
