We want to send our children to sports , but lack of facilities - our govt is not intrested in it, they are more intrested for buying MPs not on sports.

Medal Not Possible in Next 8 /10 years
by lingambaba on Aug 09, 2008 10:56 AM  | Hide replies

India should not expect Medals for next 10 years;

Assumption is that within 2 Years Govt at center will get facilities, high tech equipment, Coaches and Stadiums.

After facilities, next thing is to hold national games and get the best without any politics; get the people who have atleast 8-14 years left for the game.

Train them for 3-6 years, let them participate at world level with Govt expense.

Then expect medals after atleast 4 years.

90% of the good sport persons in this country are left grasping for daily bread/Education and family after the age of 14, how can we expect medals...Another culprit is Cricket..

Many play at District, State and National levels and end up as Clerk in Indian Railways and then die a natural sports person death which is common in India.

We are a country were we have Roads with the Name of an Asian Game Wrestling Gold Medalist and the very same person at the age of 60 SELLS CHAT ON THAT VERY ROAD...Do we think that the person will ever coach or mentor his kids to represent India in any sports.

A Poor National level Weight lifter eats even Banana Skill to maintain strength....

FREE ME KUCH NAHI MILTA AND IN THE AGE OF HI-TECH SPORTING WORLD, WE CANNOT KEEP ON SHOUTING THAT WE HAVE A SPORT STADIUM WHICH WAS BUILT IN 1980 ASIAN GAMES AND ALL EQUIPMENTS/FAILITIES ARE GOOD FOR NOTHING

AMAZING THAT THE INDIAN OLYMPIANS WHO GO AND REPRESENT INDIA, THINK IT'S A HOLIDAY! FOR THE NEXT 50 YEARS, THE SAME FELLOWS, WHEN THEY RETURN TO INDIA, WILL BOAST THAT THEY ARE OLYMPIANS..IN REALITY THEY ARE USELESS!!
PS.REMINDS ME OF A JOKE: I WENT TO KOLKATA (WHY??) ON A TRIP ONCE..MY UNCLE TOLD ME THAT THE KOLKATA POILICE WERE THE MOST DANGEROUS IN THE WORLD! I ASKED WHY? WELL, HE SAID: " WHEN THEY SHOOT THEIR GUNS AND AIM LEFT..THE BULLET ACTUALLY TRAVELS TO THE RIGHT!!" (MAYBE THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE KOLKATA POLICE AND OUR OLYMPIAN SHOOTERS !!! HAHAHAHAH!!
PPS..WHEN WILL THEY INTRODUCE THE PAAN SPITTING CONTEST IN THE OLYMPICS???

RESERVATION IN SPORTS
by Bappa on Aug 09, 2008 10:53 AM  | Hide replies

I guess there is this stupid reservation in sports also which is everywhere in our country.
Why SC/STs can't win a medal....then. It needs proper attitude for everything which India lags in sports. Lets hope we get a good leader first...then evrything will follow. We don't need PM who is puppeted by a woman.

Every medal in India was won by SC right from Milaka singh to PT usha . The so called upper class is only about bias and politics . Had they been able to do some thing they would have some how ensured that the SC cannot train well and then beat them

Reservation required
by suvojit chatterjee on Aug 09, 2008 10:32 AM  | Hide replies

Reservation is required.Lets all of us start shouting for reservations. The theme will be that those countries who has never won a single gold medal in last 100 years should participate in all the games and others in 50% of the total games. This message should reach to Sonia anyway who is there in her holidays to cheer the Italian Players.

indian politics has been faild.
so is indian burocacy

they will fail, they will keep on earnig money out fo yor pockets, they will have nice holidays, they will be on daily tours in verious countries.

the blame is on you..the balme is on me..we are all respocible, we have no will power to raise our voice, we are cowerds.

its time now to fight against the system.

I agree with Bhabesh Thakkar, yup I represent my states in Nayional games and witnessed the differences of Indian Sports in many field while comparing to other nations..surely it s the time for us to give pressure to our govt. regarding the developmnt of sports so that we can be proud of being an Indian specially during this type of world wide events not remain covered our face.

Be more responsible with the nation's cash
by Anointed One on Aug 09, 2008 10:32 AM  | Hide replies

Petrol, diesel and cooking gas are all more expensive. At this time, it was not necessary that all political dynasties accompany the PM to the Beijing Olympics. Also, where was the need of participating in these Olympics given the fact that China has long-standing territorial disputes with India, including forcible occupation of a portion of J&K. It also supports and sponsors unrest in the North East on racial and ethnic lines.
