Representatatives atleast follow code of conduct. Look arrogant and taking the rules on their own. Indians should politely reject indecent fellows. Discipline is first principle for any achievements. They should atleast follow standards whether they get medal or not is adifferent story. All these guys are making money in the name of country. People should reject decently though they acheive so much if country's respect is at stake.

To all my indians. We don't have good infra structure first of all. Second thing In house no body showing interest in sports. we have lot of latent but in childhood parents are not showing interest in sports always their concentration on studies and entertainment media.
Still i believe we have good talent but not coming up because of so many other influence in our life.

We just need to stop complaining. If we can do that I guess the rest will fall in place with time...say by next 50 or 70 Olympics! We know very well that except for cricket we are dumb in all the other sports...simple.

It is very much true, Inspite of 1 billion population we are trying to achieve just one medal.
We are not provided with infrastructure & facilities. In school & colleges, priority is given to studies.
becoz we just want to make our carrer through studies.
becoz we think there is no scope in sports & expenses is more. Games are for rich only

We dont have good sports infrastructure, why?? lack of interest in sports.Ok u said since childhood we concentarate in studies..fine how many Indians are among the top intellects in the world???excuses will not work at all man..Isn't it the time for Indians to wake up in the feild of sports while rest of the Nations reach in its peak...see for example China...how fastly it developes in and all round while India can compete with China in only child produiction..I extremely disagree with you because everything is the result of dirty politics, Lack of concentration & Our support..It requires to change the morals of majority of brothers & sisiters towards games & sports.

I agree, our contemptuous attitude in general is our biggest weakness. This was rightly highlighted even by Mr. Narayan Murthy (Infosys).

Emmons, who met and married US shooter Matt Emmons after winning bronze at the 2004 Olympics [Images] in Athens, equalled a world record score of 400 in the qualification round and was near flawless in the final round to win the gold medal with a score of 503.5 -- a new Olympic record.

"She did a fantastic job. I'm so proud of her," Matt Emmons told Reuters afterwards.

Lioubov Galkina of Russia [Images] won the silver medal with a score of 502.1. She had also won silver in Athens. Snjezana Pejcic of Croatia took bronze with 500.9.

Du Li of China finished a disappointing fifth. She had won the gold medal in Athens and was the favourite at the Olympics at home.

Emmons hit the bullseye on all 40 of her qualifying round shots for a perfect 400 score and took a small, but vital, lead into the finals.

Du had also been perfect before getting 9 on her 34th shot in qualifying to finish with 399 points. She seemed dejected after that and struggled in the final round.

Emmons, who married her US shooter husband last year, was previously known as Katerina Kurkova. Emmons went into the front row of the crowd shortly after winning to embrace and kiss her husband.

Matt Emmons had missed out on a gold medal in Athens with an ill-timed lapse of concentration, when he fired at the wrong target on his last shot

There are so many views posted by our Citizens on this website but I feel that India should honourably stay away from Olympics.

I think you should immediately stay away from rediff postings for sure. Our sportsmen just need the support of our people, not critical opinions. Look at the way people in other countries stand by their sportsmen even during bad times. Our contemptuous attitude is our BIGGEST weakness.

rightly said. India should abstain from Olympics for atleast 500 yrs. Atleast the world will not be subjected to some substandard athletes from third world.

U right, Madmax, we indians only talk too much but poor performers. Like Mahesh Bupathi was annoyed with the tennis line up. He wanted some small and new guys to play against him so that he could reach upto the semi finals and then boost off. Now that he has got a tough draw he is annoyed. What does he think, Olympic draws are made as per Mahesh Bupathi's wishes?
