When no media is there...thats a cold welcome..unresponsive..lack of care towards sportsmen of other games...But when media is there..we say unceremonious welcome..embarassing welcome...Cant understand the logic
India can afford to sponsor/appreciate only one game(which is ocuupied). So any other sports/game shall have a 'seconds' feeling(which is pretty evident),unfortunately. As such the numero-uno game(cricket) is nothing but political and financial gimmic.

Criket is played by millions and understood by billions of Indians Unlike Chess which is is played by hundreds and understood by thousands of Indians . So don't compare the two games.

we call football, tennis etc sports as power sports or speed sports like that..
but cricket is a sluggish sports.. so they cant call it as power sports or so..
so, these britishers give it the name as 'gentle'.. but gentleness is nothing to do with sports.. if its so, how so much match-fixing, satta, and corruption is thr in cricket..
however, statistics shows chess is more gentle sports...
is thr any sportsperson more gentle than Anand in india? no..
Sports is just limited to Cricket in India. So sad, a country of 1.1 billion population and 54% of them are below the age of 25 years cannot produce a few world class champions in other fields of sports except may be Chess. But even then we they win our Netas and Babus do not care about them. Just wondering how and when rot will end...
Atleast we should know how to welcome a winner who has brought laurels to the country. As per the news above, the media persons were unruly, if so then where would the civilized outlook of the society go if media behaves in such a way being a class of intellectuals in themselves.
It is a pity that the World Champion was treated this badly at the airport but are we not so accustomed to unruly scenes like this when it comes to the VIPs interacting with the masses? Although Anand need not be compared to our cricketers, who at least are RESIDENT Indians, though they perform dismally more often than not and earn more than they deserve, Anand has at least brought some game other than cricket to the spotlight for the right reasons. It is a pity that the nation and its culture is blamed here for a particular incident. If the organisers did not know how to create order or discipline, we have only them to blame and not the people who wanted to be photographed with this sports icon. At least Anand can claim now that people wanted to give him a proper welcome.
Oh, I feel so sad for the great Grandmaster Anand. I wonder when our country will learn the basics of civic consciousness. No doubt, each one of us wants to take undue advantage of such situations and reap undue benefit. Yes, it's the time to say a big sorry to Anand.
