No matter how much the team or the general public jumps up and down....the fact is whether the game is cricket or hockey... Australians r world champions.... and no one can beat them.. results of finals will be Australia 6-0 India...go the kookaburra...
Its really an Irony that the National game of our country is getting so low exposure on all types of media - be it Print Media, Television or even Internet. None of these higlighted Indian Hockey teams' entry into the semis at Azlan Shah cup. Everywhere Cricket, cricket and cricket. Even if Rahul Dravid catches cold, it becomes a big news. All channels starts speculating whether he'll play or not?? My God!!! Its a big shame to the media. Please media people, please come out of the shadow of cricket and try to promote our national game at a higher level. I must put a big blame to media for over-exaggerating Indian Cricket. On the other side, I must congratulate all the Indian Hockey players for a good performance and atleast making it to the semis. All the best for the coming matches and hopefully India lifts this cup after a poor dismal performance by the Indian Cricket team at the world cup.
I had tried to find this article as this was even not on the Headlines, News even on the SPORTS headlines of Rediff main web page.
If a cricketer sneezes the rediff puts it on the main headlines but this news just cant find the space at main headlines.
This attitude has killed the game in our country. The Indian Cricket team had not been able to win even a single major tournament since 1992 or so or perhaps earlier and even fail to perform on all major occassions. Why then they given such a coverage and money?

I very much agree with you. Even the sports headlines of rediff.com or indiatimes.com or any other indian websites do not mention it on the headlines. SHAME in capital letters for the cricket-hungry Indian Media.
Best wishes for the win....we appreciate your dedication even without the masses behind you. Keep up the good work and bring back hockey to its rightful glory in our country.

i wish addition of dilip tirkey and gagan ajit to this team.it will strengthen defence and add biteto frontline.
Nice to see National game coming out on scene good display by boys yesterday they played like well oiled machine team is missing duties of Gagan ajit as forward and Dilip Tirkey as full back also Sandeep Singh.I feel Len ayaappa is beeter drag flicker than Raghunath that india is promoting.
Hockey had been out of media attention for quiet some time and the players were in a pressure to win. Indian Hockey was dim after long years of failure. Even before leaving for Malaysia Gill asked the media not to expect much, but they have reached the semi's, good going. Our cricket can get better and consistent if we BCCI keeps them away for a while and let them cool with not much international cricket, let them play more domestic and become more competitive. BCCI just wanted to mint money dosent matter what the results are
