If anything,Koneru Humpy has got even less attention. All the attention has essentially beenwith some fairly average cricketeers though this is hardly their fault.Hope the recent world cup debacle would draw attention to oher sports
These people are the true champions and have been so for sometime.Anand is deserving of the highest honours in this country as he has susained this excellence over a period of time
we 1 billion people are proud of you.. Keep the momentum going...for a decade you are playing with the same zeal and passion which is a great boost for the future aspirations..
Congratulations to Anand as a fellow chess player. Ranking, however wonderful, it may be to be No.1 is secondary to being a true World Champion. I notice with a tinge of sadness that you have not been able to lay claim for that. (I am ignoring the 1 year reign in the farcical cycle).
I would love you to vie for the world championships in a true match against Kramnik/Tapalov. This is not about you being indian, it is about you being a truly great chess player and brining a different style of play to the board.

The only player who brigs different style on board is alex morozevich. Plays classical openings and goes for win always.
Request corporate India not to drag Anand into endorsements. Anand keep going !!! Plz. reject endorsements specifically coke and pepsi, they will spoil your game

Yea mate. You hit on an important point. Once someone endorses for cola's n pepsi's he gets so much attention and has soo much public pressure as a consequence. Cricketers do endorsements...get all the hype n then blame it on too much undue pressure. I rarely see people like pullela gopichand or vishy do such endorsements.
Someone shud tell cricketers to keep a low profile if public attention is too much pressure.
Anand truly a great Indian sportsman. Never in a controversy..way to go Indians.

h r,
>> Cricketers do endorsements...get all the hype >> n then blame it on too much undue pressure. I >> rarely see people like pullela gopichand or >> vishy do such endorsements.
If players doesn't endorse that's their wish to do so. Endorsements doesn't make players good or bad until & unless they perform for the sport!! Do understand this. Let me quote again here (very good example):-
Valentino Rossi earned $30,000,000 in 2006 (2nd rank according to Sports Illustrated of CNN). Does that affect him in anyway? Still he is super!! Because he carried that passion & fire in the belly to perform, perform, and perform!! Nothing less or more!!! FYI, he is 28 now with 7 World Titles !!!
Another important point is - Rossi doesn't stay in Italy (motherland). He stays in London. Still he performs & contributes. For that, he is now most popular Italian Sportsman & a honorary PhD from a Italian Univ (for this contributions to the Italian Society). So point is, we should learn TO CONTRIBUTE! No matter from where....hope you got the point.

I don't say i'm completely right. I understand your point. But, i also think India is different from Italy. People r not really crazy about their sport in Italy. If Italy wins soccer world cup ,it's good. If that doesn't happen they don't burn their players effigies.
You get my point? So getting attention in India is different. What i'm saying is, pressure is a part in indian cricket n players have to accept it. If they can't they don't deserve a place. And making ads wont help much either as it gives attention.
Cricketers make money bcos public watches it on field nd on ads. So, don't blame public if they criticise u when u loose.(Burning effigies is done by ignorant people, not considering them)
So if players think it's too much to take, they have the option to keep low profile. Don't u think so??

Mr.Sukhoi, dont you understand Sandipan's sarcasm. He indirectly supporting Anand and criticizing our Indian Team.
Kudos to Anand!! You make all of us, Indians Proud !! We should learn from you the basics of life, how to win and remain a champion!! We Indians have a nasty tendency of Hero Worshipping, most often than not leading to disaters (our cricketers today are affected by this syndrome, may be Sania Mirza as well, a few marksmen and athletes who coul have fared much better at the world stage had there not been so much expectations andd pressure!)Anand handled everything with elan, endorsed only limited commercial products despite his tremendous popularity, and most importantly, remained humble throughout. A class apart, truely, and a rare example for all of us ! Congratulations again !
