Happy & Sorry State of affairs
by Nitin Badhwar on Sep 04, 2003 02:59 PM

I salute Indian Army for their dare-devil efforts in fighting at battle fronts first and also want to salute for this effort for which 1 billion population never thought off.Its a Happy & sorry state of affirs for all of us ."Happy " because Amry started doing this great operation of winning medals ,"Sorrow" because our politicans just know how much number they need in the parliament to win the confidence motion but doesn't know what should be the target for sports medals.Just by making committes and associations cannot solve the issue. The issue should be addressed as a National issue. Why we say Population is a Problem....why don't we channelise this HUMAN POWER in building the largest contingent qulaified for olympics ???
But today I beleive what our army is doing in the field of sports will bring results in the coming future.

its again the army who have taken this resposibility to get laurels fr india in sports, i am sure they would do a good job at it as always.

but only thing that struck me ,if everything they gonna do ( maintain ecology, medical aid to farflung villages, internal security, disaster salvage ,riot control etc) fr the nation ,then might as well they shud rule the country .

Hi,
This is wonderfull,Hope one day the army decides to do something about our politicians too....

Only one suggestion the army would do good to rope in people like Malleshwari,Leander-Bhupati,Gopi Chand, George, our hockey team And train them they have a chance of bagging a Medal at 2004 olympics .This will inspire many new comers to go for it

Thank god, atleast one responsible orginisation realized that we NEED MEDALS at OLYMPICS. As its earlier successful operations to drive terrorist out from home land, it need to drive complacency out of We Indians and army should say that sports are not for employememt but for Natioals pride.

Some consideration at last
by Kundan Kumar Lucky on Sep 04, 2003 02:33 PM

It's very heartening to know that the Army has come up with the goal of an Olympic medal for India in 2008. Truly said, it needs meticulous planning and indefatiguable attempts before one is able to achieve such a coveted goal as this. We must not forget, however, that the same Indians had won the Olympic gold in Hockey again and again. That's should be quite encouraging for the participants even now. It's only the matter of "awakening the giant within".
Still one wonders why it needed an Army General to realize that state of affairs was so pathetic and something needed to be done. Are there no other avenues except Army and Supreme Court (with a few exceptions, of course, in both the cases) from where such ideas (and actions) can flow? Is none other than the two Institutions concerned about what happens to India and its to pride? That's quite a big question mark on our political and bureaucratic system...

Now can we also ask the army to start Operation Poverty Eradication, Operation Anti-crime, Operation Tolerance, Operation Education, Operation Woman Empowerment, Operation Infrastructure..etc...?
Or should the precursor for all these be a simple operation to set the tone for their success.... OPERATION POLITICIAN ANNIHILATION????

Re. The army initative for olympic medal
by Anish Nair on Sep 04, 2003 02:13 PM

Dear Sir,
It gives me great pleasure that the army has taken up this wonderful project. Being an athlete myself and after seeing all the things going around ( I mean politics in sports and all) i never thought anyone would think the same way and would win a medal for the country in Olympics. Well My salute to the army in taking up the initative and wish all the very best to them. Hope one day our tricolor will fly above everyone in the olympic stadium.

Jai Hind.

Good Sign for Indian Sports

Indeed, it is hearting to note that one of the most dedicated and disciplined organisation of the country is coming forward with an aim to bring glory in the field of sports for the country. Some times, it really pinch us and hound that country of more than 1 billion populace could not win even a single madel in Olympic. But, one can start dreaming the day one fellow indian sportsman standing on victory podium at Olympic courtesy, Indian Army.
