It is the callouseness of the local population who clearly knew that they were standing on the railway track , that resulted in this trajedy. Why blame the driver ,the station master, the gatekeeper and the DRM for this.Anybody trespassing railway property for any purpose are punishable under the railway Act. Why should the victims receive compensation from the railways?

Real Problem
by Kiran Sutar on Oct 21, 2018 01:50 PM

Real Problem is the attitude of the people.
They take everything for granted. Expecting all other things and people to change, BUT NOT THEMSELVES.

When will these people understand that tracks are for trains ONLY and NOT for crossing....whatever be the situation... Train Tracks are ONLY for TRAINS and NOBODY ELSE !!!

Blame game should be stopped. Many of our trains are already running late and behind the schedule.Train Drivers are trying to run the trains as per schedules. Railway tracks are there only for running the Trains. Organizers who organised are the real culprits and they deserve punishment. And will be a lesson for the others who mis-uses the Railway tracks.

The author is highly illogical
by vishnu dutta on Oct 21, 2018 01:03 PM

Ms Shoba Warrier you have clearly demonstrated that your article does not show any valid logic. Accident happened due to the track being on same level is your reasoning. Well let me tell you that there are many places in the country and over the globe which has railway tracks on the same level but we dont have congregation on the railway track. The track is for trains to run and not for people to make merry or create an assembly. A basic child of elementary school has this knowledge. You write as if the authorities are responsible for everything bad in one's life. The train driver did the right thing by not applying emergency brakes else the tragedy would have been much bigger. Your illogical reasoning is why my country will never improve

OBCs unfairly enjoying reservations should be run over by trains

Those unfairly demand and use reservations under OBC like Jats, Gujjars, Yadavs, Patidars, Kapus, Jaiswals, Modis, etc should be run over by trains.

Politicising all issues

Dear All,
First of all, why politicise all the issues ?
a) Why the function organized there, they say its happening for years now ! So the last Govt was BJP !
b) The driver or the railways were so callous, they did not know of the place and festival gathering, absolutely unpardonable ! The driver , reduced the speed from 98 kmph to 68 kmph, he could not apply brakes or the train would have derailed BUT he could have seen from a distance in the beam light or may be the light was not on.
c) Railways every day runs on the killer track, No safety measures whatsoever are strictly followed.
They simply can not blame the organisers, the Railway is equally responsible for this mishap. The driver, the Station manager, the DRM all should be suspended.
Lets all contribute to the bereaved families and shun politics.

I do NOT agree with you on point no. 3

You want safety throughout the railway track. Can you imagine the cost of putting such a safety feature throughout the railway tract in the whole country ???
It is the people who have to change the mindset: Train Tracks are ONLY for TRAINS, and NOBODY ELSE.

Even after putting the safety structure, do you think that people will NOT break that safety just for their ease of movement? How many people want to cross the railway lines using the bridge? Come to Mumbai, you will see thousands of people crossing the railway tracts everyday, even though there are bridges and subways. They still cross the railway tracks !!!
