by Prakash Bedekar on Nov 16, 2018 05:16 PM  | Hide replies

You have to use special dictionery to know the 20% cost difference as indicated by NDA. Here the meaning of cost escalation means discount.

Bedekar, How one can compare the final deal with the negotiation by the earlier government who inspite of number of years of negotiation could not complete and finalised the deal. No one has to say anything about the failure of the earlier government who for the reasons best known to them did not finalised the deal

he is justified in comparing prices provided he has the details of the offers made to UPA and NDA.
The NDA must prove that it got a better offer than UPA. That appears doubtful, if the author's data are correct.

Did NDA finalised the deal ? Why they failed to complete the deal after negotiation for number of years ? The deal finalised by NDA can never be compared with failed negotiation data of UPA government . If UPA think thy could have got fighter planes at comparatively cheaper rates, why the deal was not completed under their regime ? Once having failed in this deal, they have absolutely no moral right to say anything about this deal.

What a misleading article by ajai shukla ???
by Nalin Kishore on Nov 16, 2018 04:38 PM  | Hide replies

How can cost of FUEL, Lubricants and spares be part of 40years contract ??? When one buys a car does the company include the cost of petrol/diesel in the price ?
This seems another scam if UPA had included the operating costs of fuel into the deal ??? Most ridiculous deal.
What happens in case of war, for which these aircraft are purchased , will dassault pay for the ATF ???? Nonsense of an article by ajai shukla and rediff ....

Modiji has not bought a car but a figheter aircraft and that too on early delievery and ready to fly condition. Only thing is delivery of 18 aircrafts is to be competed by 2025

Have you done any business yourself ? and still you are discussing the price of Rafale jet without having any details for the same. Modi is PM and has number of defence experts at his service to guide and advice him. No one appreciate the fact that for the first time there is no involvement of any middlemen in this deal.

Rediff and ajai shukla are misleading
by giridhara upadhyaya on Nov 16, 2018 03:52 PM  | Hide replies

Why did the price increase. There are many reasons behind it. Atleast 2 reasons which people can clearly understand is
1. The UPA started price negotiation but did not confirm or buy so obviously the price increased as it was put in the agreement clause(it’s you plan buying a maruti car in 2010 but buy only in 2018. If cost of car was 2 lakhs in 2010 nobody will sell it for 2 lakhs in 2018 just bcos you planned to buy in 2010)
2, UPA plan was to buy rafale aircraft without any added accessories but NDA is buying fully loaded jet( there is a price difference between a basic model of maruti vehicle and a fully loaded ZD vehicle)
Anti-nationals and Modi hater in REDIFF and Moron Ajai Shukla are misleading people and shamelessly bluffing.

When you need something eargently it is obvious that you have to pay more, then again you have to favour your friend in need and you require fast delievery. Urgent delievery of aircrafts will be competed by 2025

The agreed escalation figure was 3.9% per year of delay which was renegotiated to 3% by NDA. That still leaves the UPA pricing about 30% lower than NDA's . And according to Shukla, all the add ons, weapons , services were the SAME. If true then there is some explaining to do.

The most significant exchange during the SC proceedings was between the CJI and the IAF chief. CJI asked if there was no acquisition of new aircrafts since 1985 and the IAF chief replied in affirmative. Just imagine driving a 35 year old car on highways with modern cars whizzing past you. The IAF pilots must have had similar feelings. It was Vajpayee government which recognised the need and initiated the process some time in 2003 but UPA stalled acquisition till 2014. One can imagine why Modi had to abandon the whole process and make urgent acquisition. Congress is now trying to abort this also. The SC is seized of the matter and even when the matter is under their consideration the fake news bandwagon of congress chugs on merrily with Rediff a willing accomplice.

The most significant information available in this write up is that the Dassault CEO, Eric Trapper, confirmed during the Feb 2015 Aero India show in Bangalore (just 2 months before komaaaali Modi cancelled the 126 Rafale deal between Dassault and HAL) that the price of the fighter in that deal remained the same as from day 1 of the identification of the L 1 bidder !

Now, chew on that and see whether you can attempt a spin on it !

What the Air Marshal forgot to mention is that even if there were NO imports of planes after 1985, we still got over 200 SUKHOI 30 manufactured in India. One of the best fighters in the world , even today. We don't have to look only at imports to get a feel of the IAF strength.
