In India some media always criticizes whatever the present Government is doing. Please see the thing positively. Now, this statue has become worlds tallest statue, which is a unique distinction achieved by India. Besides, this statue will become one of the tourist spot in India, which may create direct and indirect employment in that area. This Statue of Unity may attract many people in the country and Global and in that way it boost the Tourism. * Tajmahal is biggest attraction of India, its revenue generation is just 25 crore per year. Even with this pace, it will take 120 years to recover the money expend in statue, keeping maintenance cost zero. * Before this, world tallest statue was of Buddha in Chine but it was not even in the list of top 10 revenue generator of Chine tourism. * Its location is 4hrs away from Ahmadabad which will hardly intend people to visit there just to see the statue.

One simple question: If squandering thousands of crores on H A J subsidy can be considered a noble deed, how come the statute of a patriot becomes an anti poor / people act?

Dude, get yourself educated. Hajj subsidy was stopped last year. In the name of subsidy, the loss making Air India tickets were offered discount.
Now travelers will choose any option they have apart from AI so that they will get some good service while travelling with private companies.
