When was the last time north Indian was elected for president?
by chakr on Jun 17, 2017 07:26 PM  | Hide replies

When was the last time north Indian was elected for president? BJP formed govt with the help of North Indians and now they attach importance to promote interests of Tamils and Mallus who vote for regional parties and communists. People who are democratic were looked down and people who are regionalistic, communal and anti national are rewarded. In this aspect, there is no difference between congress and BJP.

Due to our electoral arithmetic, the Prime Minister is usually from North India, more often than not from UP. The President's post is a consolation offering to non-Hindi regions. If Modi appoints a saffronite from North India, it will be a departure from the time-tested practice.

Why media is wants Modi Govt. to be Neutral?
by Narendra Pandey on Jun 17, 2017 07:21 PM

We have never heard that media used to comment why President should not be a politician. When NDA is in power, why not they should choose their own man? They are in power and they have the number? What is this fuss? Let Modi Govt. decide, whether they want to elect Mohan Bhagwat or Metro man. It is their choice. Why can not everybody for another few days?

Vijay Shivdasani
Presidential Candidate
by Vijay Shivdasani on Jun 17, 2017 06:52 PM

I tend to agree with the author that the contender for the Presidential post should not be a polician! Unmentioned by the author here is Mrs Pratibha Patil who was truly the bottom of the presidential pit! Gave absolutely nothing but took away a great deal!
Sreedharan or some one who has the job performance and character that he does, would be eminently suited.

HC ARORA
President of India
by HC ARORA on Jun 17, 2017 03:40 PM

The only and only deserving candidate is Dr. E. Sreedharan, the metro magic man. I fully support his being nominated for the presidentship. I, as a layman, also wish to do whatever it takes to get him elected as the President of India.

Never before I heard so many suggestions being given to the ruling party to select the candidate for Presidential post. Why did you all so called intellects not objected to Congress Party picking absolutely piggies for the post. It was only the magnanimity of Atal Bihari Vajpayee led NDA who showed the path by giving country the peoples President in Dr. Kalam. What happened after that? Again Congress party reversed the trend. So this noice of suggesting great names to be the next President is hypocritic and deliberate attempt.

I agree with you. BJP is expected to nominate neutral persons to prove its secular credentials, where as Cong can choose anybody like P Patil

Kavile Narayanan
The President
by Kavile Narayanan on Jun 17, 2017 03:28 PM

I am of the opinion that Indian president should be a non-political persons, and strictly not a person who is bred and brought up by politicians, and a person who dance to the tune of ruling political class. He must be a non-political personality, and his selection should be from eminent personalities who have proved their worth by sheer performances in their respective fields. He may be an engineer, scientist, social activist, educationist, jurist etc. Above all, he must be a person who is concerned about the public welfare. If such a person is chosen by the political parties for the top job, then only we can say that our democracy is really a world class and it upholds the spirit of the world's largest constitution. For the present, it is not possible as the constitution needs to be amended first. Politicians have a vested interest at all times. In order to have a working present to the true spirit of the ideals enshrined in the Constitution, we must have a non-political President to honour the Nation. Why dont we think on that line.
