Indian Railway must stop this right away by refuse in this system so that the Trains at Railway Station do not drop SHIT anymore !!!!PM and Railway Minister must work On this and ensure rail track All along is also free from the Open Latrines!!!! Let Swachh Abhiyan become visible when travelling by Trains by New Year !!!!!
In my opinion, manual scavenging is a shameful and degrading practice. It should have stopped several years ago but no government gave priority to stopping such practices. Now that Mr Modi has launched Swachchh Bharat Abhiyaan, hopefully he would be able to stop this inhuman practice. Time will tell.
Thode who abouse Modi should make a note that there is not a single Manual Scavanger in entire Gujarat, because of strong work he did here and definitely he will abolish it from Nation too..

Why should manual scavenging be allowed even if voluntarily done is my question. Will they not go sick severly if they do in unhealthy cleaning condition.They should be provided with safety gear to do the work by the government.They are those human beings who do dirty jobs to keep others and the surroundings clean.So why show them the negelence to their health factor.Are we so uncaring society we can pay tax to keep them also safe even when they have to do unclean jobs.Our Govt. should think about it and act fast.Let them also live a safe life,as machines can help them in manholes.
Is this 'manual scavenging' job forced upon people or is it taken up just like any other job by some people ?
If it is a case of forced labor ( which is highly unlikely in the current society), then appropriate legal action needs to be taken.
if they are doing it voluntarily ( willingly) for employment , then it should be treated like any other employment. If it is the case then why it is a shame one fails to understand. Is it because it is human excrement ? In that case, the cleaning of municipal drainage, hospital beds and toilets too is a 'shame'.
The tragedy of this nation is that we have a media whose thinking does not grow out of a latrine well. They look for some excuse to make a section of the society oppressed and the rest of the society forcing upon the oppressed society and then there is this cinematic fight.
If at all, the media sccum bags and activist sccum bags should be fighting for better health insurance, better pay and safe equipment for these workers rather than resort to pointing fingers at every one in the society for allowing this to happen.
