We need to employ modern technology to eliminate the scourge. The primary reason being unnecessary healthy hazard linked to the profession. Wherever the practice is prevalent proper study should be made to find out the reason for the prevalence of the condition and necessary modernization shall be encouraged.

Yes it is really a national shame as well as a big shame on humanity. We have no right to show or called our-selves advanced in science and technology till we totally demolish such kind of activities.

When there are private people employed to clean the government and others then why is not the government providing them jobs. Manual Scavengers are also human beings and should be treated like one. In Metros like Chennai it is rampant where the government closes its eye.

Yes national shame

Its really a national shame that we still have manual scavenging and that too caste based and then Modi and team and for that matter much of Indians take pride in Swach Bharat. Unless and until we do not start from scratch, nothing can be achieved. The real base and start of Swach Bharat should be to remove manual scavenging and deploy machines and people equipped with full gear and medical care to get those things done. And then remove the caste based identity of these scavengers and keep it as a regular employment. Only after that can we think of the next step of toilet, swach bharat etc. Its a shame that inspite of Modi and Govt. earning so much thro' the Swach Bharat tax, they are not able to get machines for scavenging and abolish/ remove manual work or atleast give them the best gear and protection. These are things for which alternative has to be found if we want India towards development. Why has the PM, CMs, the Ministers and Ambassadors not started their campaign in scavenging and take photographs along with those manual scanvengers. That would have been the real inspiration.

The manual scavenging is not done by high caste and
caste hindus; if it were the government(both central and state) would have abolished tooth-and-nail immediately.

Now did you people understand the matter clearly!!!???
