Kashmir was not a democratic state. It was a princely state and the Raja acceded to India. It was Raja's Kashmir which acceded to India and not of the People. Kahmiris can go or die at the hands of Indian forces. End of story.

Problems narrated above may be of many States, basic issue is - we could not eliminate separatists from kashmir rather few politicians have given them importance and positions.
Regarding employment-majority of youths are un-employed or under employed. Great need to retire all govt. servants on army pattern where a Jawan retires at 40 and officer at 50. Will such decision be taken by any govt. to employ youths at early age.

NOT SO SIMPLE
by jaswinder chabbra on Sep 09, 2016 04:12 PM

She seems to suggest repeal of AFSPA , withdrawal of army and employment to all in Kashmir will solve Kashmir problem. Ha ha what about unemployment in rest of the country? Kashmiris are not so innocent. Sooner we understand this better it would be.

who to blame?
by kausik chattopadhyay on Sep 09, 2016 04:08 PM

If Indians (other than the Kashmiris, as they are also Indian I consider) have misconception about kashmiris the onus to remove that from the mind of Indians are squarely lying on the kashmiris only. They have to be educated, come out of shell and tell the world that they are also like any other Indian citizen. Mountain will not go to Muhammad, it is the other way round.

Not a part of India ?
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Sep 09, 2016 03:38 PM  | Hide replies

"if Burhan Wani had lived in India .... " This phrase is ridiculous. He lived in a part of India called J&K.
Unconsciously, some people feel J&K is not really a part of India.

The title is wrong. Burhan Wani lived in India. It could have been something like "India outside Kashmir" or "the rest of India".

agree with your view. How a person ignore the fact that Burhan wani was staying in Kashmir an intergral part of India and how rediff can publish such article.
