I think without the liberalization policy and handling the bills passed through coalation govt and also in the rajyasabha. He is the architect of modern INDIA. If he is not there we are no different from greece ,pakisthan, SLanka or any other underdeveloping countries or financial crisis countries

Have you forgotten how he failed to handle the situation pre and post 6 th December 1992. The demolition of Babri masjid brought India on the brink of chaos and anrchy, for which late Rao will be remembered for ever
Jai Ram Ramesh deserves kudos for placing the personality of Rao in true perspective. His encomiums to Rajeev Gandhi are unparallel. His appreciation of Man Mohan Singh is well placed, but he has not clarified as to why Sonia Gandhi insulted him at the time of his death. Also Ramesh did not say a single word about Rao's advice to his successor Atal Bihari Vajpayee to carry out immediately the experiment of nuclear explosions in May 1998. Anyway it is a good tribute.
He is easily the most effective Pm we have had. Least talked about and least understood. Sadly the Congress wallas themselves do not want to appreciate him because he had shown the door to Sonia Gandhi and her cohoots.
the man everyone hated to admire, because of our damaged mindsets and bias of preferring beauty over brains Most people don't know or didn't know what to ask of him, except probably Dr. Manmohan Singh. Maybe that's the reason why Jairam Ramesh was disposed of, he didn't have anything more to contribute. One never asks why Atal Behari Vajpayee was given the benefit of doubt, that's another bias, which people use to pillage him and exonerate Rajiv Gandhi for the shilanyas and Vajpayee for the presence, ignorance or being conveniently naive. L K Advani should be seen along with Kalyan Singh and Bal Thackeray, no one would bother to read their minds.
The blurb definitely shows that author Jairam Ramesh has taken time to use words, phrases and quot to make the reading intellectually elegant. It also in someway sends a message that books between the covers can be both ghostly or glaringly glorifying. My take of the book is that India may have no dearth for political leadership but it has post independence completely failed in giving the country any visionary leadership of substance...
