Abolish Civil Services
by Nishanth Kancharla on Jun 08, 2015 03:02 PM

Sevaral commitees on Centre-State relation has recommended abolishing All India Services. States should be free to appoint members recruited by them for the key roles currently holded by IAS/IPS. Also Cadre based civil services is a speed breaker to overall development of the nation. Already beureaucracy is hampering development and it is right time we fix this.

Yes they are of no good to this country

All services should be treated as equal .This is the only way India can progress .

There should be nothing like a cadre . Who so ever performs well and has the calibre must rule .One exam or an interview doesn't make them good enough to destroy this nation at will .These guys have got nothing to their credit since independence , its only because of the foresight of other professionals that this country has progressed . Look at ISRO or for that reason railways .

IAS are considered to be quite intelligent as they not only to clear the entrance exams but have to go to gruelling task for promotion. In fact they are part of the democratic system. The IAS no doubt have gained importance because in the past the politicians were illiterate. They form the backbone of the administrative system. They are the ones who formulate the policies of the government. They are go between the ministers and the citizens. The legacy of the british are well planned. The courts, the armed forces, the police forces etc, are all legacies which have stood the test of time

The central public services were cushion against political interference. It has however become most corrupt due to ambitions of officers who could extend favours to industry & politicians. It has long out lived the utility but none has the courage to remove vestibule.

Mihir Sharama isn't saying anything, what many have said many times over, before him.
Offer a solution, rather yapping about on the problem.
Don't waste everyone's time with such articles.
