publishing those cartoons caricaturing Ixzlam, has done several other lampoon acts in the past...against Cathxolicism, against European politicians and political parties, against raxcism, etc.
Against Cathxolicism, it published cartoons depicting masxturbating nuns and Popes wearing conxdoms.
Against Francois Hollande, it published his cartoons with his penxis out.
Neither of the above caricatures got for the magazine any kind of adverse reactions other than democratic manner of protests from some organisations.
From an Indian viewpoint, what the publication has not done so far are two things :
1. Depicting Hyndu fundamentalism - the kind whose representative the Sangh Parivar in India is
2. Depicting the strangle hold Juxdaism and Jews have on the American political and economic spheres
The magazine can be excused for not depicting any cartoons so far against hyndu fundamentalism. After all, India and Indians are still largely irrelevant and inconspicuous in Western thought and life.
But what certainly cannot be allowed to be overlooked is the fact that the magazine - professedly standing fearless against holy cows - has not done even the slightest so far to depict the Jexws and Israels vice like grip on the US and the gross human rights violations the Israelis have been carrying out in the middle east with the active connivance of the US !
Charlie Hebdo is as hypocritical as all the rest of those who make exceptions in their acts.

Michel Houellebecq, featured on the most recent issue of Charlie Hebdo, imagines a France in 2022 that is ruled by Islamic Law - because no one is willing to stand up for Enlightenment values.
“In 2015, I lose my teeth,” he says. “In 2022, I will fast in Ramadan!”
The reference is to his latest book, “Soumission” (“Submission”), which imagines a future where the French version of the Muslim Brotherhood comes to power through presidential and parliamentary elections.
JOurnalists, like everybody else have to draw lines which should not be crossed when dealing with masses and their sentiments....take for instance, how would many Hindus feel when an artist draws naked pictures of our gods ? same is true with Islam.... however, killing is not an acceptable response, but at the same time ignoring is also not a solution...so when somebody decides to hurt sentiments of a large group or peoples, then it is against the morals and ethics of any soceity....there are lines which all of us have to draw. and think about it how west is responding to other terror attacks in poor nations - in the same week as 17 people died in Paris, 2000 people were slaughterd in Nigeria by Boko Haram. Did we even see a single line of news on Nigeria attack ?

NICELY SAID MR. SINGH WE CANNOT JUSTIFY THE KILLINGS BUT THERE SHOULD BE A LINE FOR JOURNALISTS, PEOPLE MADE FUN OF MUHAMMAD AT HIS TIME ALSO BUT HIS COMPANIONS DONT GO SIMPLY AND KILL THEM, AND THIS DOSENT MADE ANY DIFFERENCE IN HIS DIGNITY AND RESPECT. BY DOING THESE THINGS WE ARE INVITING THESE PEOPLE TO DO MORE OF SUCH ACTIVITIES WHO SIMPLY WANT TO LIVE IN THE COMPETITION OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA AND MAKE MORE MONEY.
REdiff should stop publishing such low quality articles that justify killings for criticism. The cartoonist was one of the few who stood against terrorists and their threats.
You need to teach tolerance that is missing from this cult, world over.
But those who offend should be ready to be shown their place as well, as its a two way street. Killing is barbaric and is mostly the domain of one religion, but Praveen Swamy was rightly shown his place after his anti-national articles and this author is an idiot when he compares that to Charlie Hebdo. The so called journalists like this author are only interested in sensationalising everything to gain attention and truth doesnt matter to them. The real culprits are these morons, later the fools who entered Charlie Hebdo
