Infact quite a few Indians who have the aptitude can learn both at the same time.
German Grammar and Sanskrit Grammar are identical.
Introduce these languages in 4th grade itself so that by the time the candidate is in 12th Grade he can choose to graduate in either language.
Personally if i were given a choice would learn Sanskrit because it is a beautiful and classical language of ancient India and all our sacred scriptures and wonderful works of literature including Kalidasa's works are written in that language.
And I would learn German because a wealth of Scientific and technical know how is in German including Einstein's theory of relativity and also Euler's works.
Also by learning German one can avail of job opportunities in three very beautiful countries in Europe: Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
here one has to literally fight to get back whats ones own. sanskrit was systematically eroded / kept away from the curriculum as it seemed too right wing (what ever that means) from nehru the system looked down on everything culturally & historically relevant on ancient india. and no one is forcing down anything, but making whats a great language and we should be proud off. what can we expect form people who look down upon nationalism
Let Smriti Irani, all her ministerial colleages in Central Cabinet, politicians of all political parties across the nation SHOULD LEARN SANKRIT FIRST, instead of imposing it on hapless students because of the fact that they are just students.

WHICH LANGUAGE STUDENTS ARE STUDYING IN ENGLAND IN SCHOOLS? AND WHY ? WHICH LANGUAGE STUDENTS ARE LEARNING IN FRANCE AND WHY ? WHICH LANGUAGE CHILDREN ARE STUDYING IN CHINA AND WHY ? WHICH LANGUAGE GERMAN CHILDREN ARE STUDYING IN THEIR SCHOOLS AND WHY ?
So we should go for Sanskrit for the same reason, the most scientific language of the world, as per scientists of present day.
Govt has forced & forcing several things on the people, day in & day out. Sanskrit has been acclaimed as best language even by Germans & Sanskrit has been made compulsory in, at least one School in UK. Even if one school in UK makes it compulsory, we should be ashamed be our ignorance of our mother language and take pride that at least foreigners have realised the greatness of Sanskrit. Sanskrit was the language in India & it was Mccaullay who systematically planned to kill Sanskrit. But Sanskrit is far above such mean ideas. But the same Britishers ae respecting Sanskrit but not Indians. Why Sanskrit (which is the mother of all Indian languages) should not be forced on Indians? Learning German need not be opposed but Sanskrit must be made compulsory than any other language. Why Hindi is forced on S Indians & why Hindi has been made National Language while Telugu was spoken by more % in India (when the idea was proposed) After 60 yrs, experts have not been able to translate all the English words into Hindi & no one knows why certain Hindi words have been coined, to represent English words? Chinese, Arabs,Persians,Greeks,Romans,Turks,Egyptians, Srilankans etc. have attended Sanskrit Schools in India, since 3000 BC. Britishers & Arabs have killed the best language, best libraries & best documented science by ruining Sanskrit and despite all the modern tools, they are unable to reach even 1/100th of the knowledge or the perfection, in any field.
With Sanskrit language only all languages have correlated and interconnected, hence, Sanskrit language should not be sidelined in the school syllabus which will give wrong signal in future in the Education department. (Print this message)
The children should only be taught two languages in school - English should be made compulsory. Third or fourth languages should be optional. You can engage specialist professionals for teaching the third language in holidays rather than employing half-baked teachers with fake degrees. Just look at the response and interest of the students for a particular language rather than signing MoUs with governments. The same rule works for Sanskrit. Beware of the so-called scholars - they can be bad teachers. Teaching requires special skills.

Let there be English and Hindi compulsory across all schools, in addition of the mother tongue of the respective region one belongs to.
