The uproar is mainly due to the comments of the VC who said , there will be 4 times more boys coming the library if girls are allowed. Those words coming from a VC shows his regressive mentality and insults the girls. This statement of him completely eclipsed his other reasons like no space and facts like the girls already have a library in their college which is separate entity. His comment was similar to that radical guy who supported burkhas by saying women are like lollypop so we should cover them with Burqas.
Living condition of women in muslims is pitiable, no one is dare enough to talk on this issue including Aamir Khan on his TV show. What to do for their education, status and rights.
Many commenter, generally mouselems, are in the view of separating boys and girls, just like keeping the purdah in Saudi Arabia !!!
However, Purdah cannot give complete protection to women !!! But, it can and it does BLOCK WOMEN from growth and practical sense to real life, which is essential for her future !!
How many rapes, women abuse, dowry harrassment, forced marriage, child marriage happen under 'muslim pardah' happens, even in Madrassa's, and .. listen ... in countries like Saudi Arabia ....
Most of them does not see the day of light of the day due to restrictions, unless the girl have the rare courage to bring it to open !!
At least, in non-muslim open system, they are brought open and people are punished !!

Nobody questioned about infrastructure, quality of education or student intake of other religions. The question is, If Boys of affiliated colleges are allowed to use the facilities of AMU Library, why not girls are not allowed to use. If Space constraint is there, they should expand it and allow both boys and girls. Just AMU is telling many excuses, but their main intention is not to allow girls in to Library. They want to establish another library for girls but not to allow in to main library of AMU. Still discrimination is continuing in the society. Government should act tough and correct the gender discrimination.
