What is there to comment upon
by Jagdish Dubey on Nov 15, 2014 04:09 PM  | Hide replies

It is a very lucid statement of the situation as it exists. Perhaps it was the remark about boys crowding the library if undergraduate girls from the women's college were allowed entry. That may be true but unacceptable. Hence the furor. Just forget it and build a good library for the Women's College too.

And, keep men and women separate in Saudi Arabian style, so that no women have to develop even her maturity to handle men (and not grow her own career of her life) !!!

Thats also the matter of fact in honest spirit, dear friend Harmony !!

Dear Nazir I agree With U

I am Hindu, but I am Indian First . The Only Problem is that People have lost faith in Muslim community due to Terrorism. Most of Terrorist Claim that they are Fighting for Islam and Muslim Community. It is due to this that muslims are put in bad light. And For other people and Indian Government, Minority must not be decided on popualtion strength of a community. it must be decided on economic backwardness of people

dear nazir,

How many rapes, women abuse, dowry harrassment happen under 'muslim pardah' happens, even in Madrassa's, and .. listen ... in Saudi Arabia .... do you have the knowledge ? Most of them does not see the day of light due to restrictions, unless the girl have the rare courage to bring it open !!
Want to know some of them ???

At least, in non-muslim open system, they are brought open and people are punished !!

Purdah cannot fully protect women !!! But, it can and it does block women from growth and practical introduction to real life, which is essential for life and profession !!

google maid rape Gulf ... you will come to know the truth of saudi and entire Gulf for women abuse !!!

And, did you heard of saudi sheikh's one day marriage in India and Pakistan ?

The 'Purdah' does not change the basic character of evil men, who are everywhere ... but surely, it takes women behind in life !!! And, in turn, the entire community, b'cos she is the mother of her child !!

Ms. Irani jumped the gun.
by anand on Nov 15, 2014 02:07 PM  | Hide replies

AMU is an autonomous body. As soon as Smriti Irani heard of gender bias, she jumped the gun and issued warning.

As a Minister, a basic courtesy demands that she go through the structure of this world renowned institute and where it stands.

Oh.. sure how can a 10th standard student know all these things.

A very detailed analysis that misses the moot point. The furore is not over access to the library as such but over the sexist and derogatory remark of the V.C.
The best way to close the chapter is that the V.C., an old man, should say sorry and people should forgive him, keeping in view his age and the senility that usually comes with the old age.
As a people's representative the Minister is justified in criticising the statement made by the V.C. which was widely heard on T.V. channels and did not require any investigation or verification. In order to be sensitive person need not be a doctorate. He or she just need to be a sensitive human being.

Gender inequality should be eradicated. Both women and men are equal each of them doing their own nature ordained responsibilities and roles

Celebrated Author Taslina Nasreen said it aptly

"The inequalities and injustices against women and the people of different faiths in Is1am made me angry. If any religion allows the persecution of the people of different faiths, if any religion keeps women in slavery and keeps people in ignorance then I cannot accept that religion."

Can't argue with that

Jai! u never cease to amuse the world with your constant islamophobic rants. If there's one Taslima, then Islam has many Lauren Booths coming to its fold.

I am afraid the hate in you, someday may cause you untold misery. So, keep calm and stope hate propagation.

Cheers

The day died in the wool Is1amist puritans realize that it is impossible to live "EXACTLY" like life was in 7th century Arabia and that the world does not belong to the followers of A11ah alone, the world will be a more peaceful place.

Any religions caught up in its own dogmas, rituals & ideological fanaticism and unwilling to reform, change or adapt to life as it exists today is worse than slavery!

It is not atheism that is a danger to the world but it is blind belief!

You are also a hater mohd, better to see the darkness below you, before buffing anyone's criticism ...

Certainly, analyse yourself and the very nature of muslims for creation of orgamisations like 'Boko Haram', 'Al-Qaida', 'Talibaan', 'IS' ... uninterruptedly !!!

The Vice Chancellor of AMU wanted to tell the World that you can not trust muslim boys and hence he did not want girls in the Library. You have to read between the lines.

Want to know cases happen to girls in "Madrassa" by Imams ?

Look, stopping the freeness to your women, you are not anly hurting them but the entire society !!!

Mother has to be mentally grown (by education, interaction with people etc and that cannot happen without liberty), then only the child will be grown !!

That does not mean to push women backwards and let her suffer ... the darkness and give her "so-called protection' !!

And keep her under 'Purdah' and 'burqah' to stop her growing up and maturity !!!

Why not? But what is Christian Medical College, Vellore, MCC Madras Christian College etc? Merit is not the criterion in those colleges. I know a person who secured seat in MBBS & later MD or MS just because he was converted Christian and no so brilliant, to deserve seat. This is prevalent in all Christian or Missionary St Schools.

Sure..they are slow poison. Converting illiterates to Christianity and keep them as their sovereign. But do Hindus or Muslims have as much schools and colleges that are being run by Christians. If educating people are poisoning, they do it.
