tippu and his father were as fanatic as any other muslim kings. He is not freedom fighter in my sense this is the gift of secular congress which has rewritten history to its nose calling all tyrant muslim kings as a great reformer including Aurangzeb.

You are right. How can we call Tippu's fight against the British as fight for freedom? Real freedom fighting is that of the movement lead MG, because it was seen all over India. More over, MG took every body with him to fight against the British, whereas Tippu did many things to antagonise the Hindus. If this authors argument is to be taken for granted, even Savarkar should not questioned for taking a pro Hindu stance.
In defense of Tipu, Vikram has given some fantastic arguments. Can this not be applied to the forward community and restore all the previleges back to the current generation? Or rather applying universally, why would anyone talk ill of Idi Amin, Gazni, Ghori and Babur and Aurangazeb? They are all noble souls trying to emphasise their victory and rule over Indians. Let us celebrate everyone of them. Mr.Vikram need to read the history of Tipu, his actions in Malabar and West Coast, etc., In stead of questioning the agenda of those who wrote, he should compare various available records and then celebrate Tipu's nobility. If he is such great freedom fighter, why did he invite the french to support him? Those who stood up to the British and all other foreigners are forgotten but we are busy celebrating those who systematically destroyed the culture of Mysore and india!!

Whipping up a frenzied campaign against Brahmins and holding them responsible for all social ills is part of progressive thinking, but blaming Muslims or Muslim kings for the mindless desecration of temples, conversion, loot or rape is being communal or reactionary or retrogressive.
