you are right Tipu is grt leader and at that time if some other ruler may help him like sindhyiya family or rajistan king then our independance will be count on that day only when Tipu sultan was alive. He is brave and the grt ruler. some of the BJP people making politicse abot religion. Who built "Sri Ranganatha Temple" temple, one of the very famous temple in Karnataka? Your father? He build may such many temples. What he does that Karnataka people knows and we like him. So, we have him the education in chapters. We read about him, we heard about him and we know him. You need to study his history first and them comment.
Tipu sent a letter on 19 January 1790 to the Governor of Bekal (near Kasaragod), Budruz Zuman Khan. It says:
"Don't you know I have achieved a great victory recently in Malabar and over four lakh indus were converted to Is1am? I am determined to march against that cursed Raman Nair (Rajah of Travancore) very soon. Since I am overjoyed at the prospect of converting him and his subjects to Is1am, I have happily abandoned the idea of going back to Srirangapatanam now."[54]

If Tipu Sultan had converted 4 lakh Hindus to Islam,there would not have been a single hindu living in Kerala. Let the hindus muslims and christans peacefully coexist in Kerala and elsewhere.No doubt he fought against the British to establish his right and the right of Indians.
