Fed by propaganda. In terms of sheer scale and valour, Shivaji was more brave & a unifier, he did not torture non-Hindus.

Hypocrite Seculars
by Rationalist on Feb 04, 2014 06:41 PM

Nobody says today's generation is accountable to what was done in the past. But the refusal to acknowledge the atrocities committed by them and attempt to twist the facts and bury the past starting from the Britishes and then by Congies & Secularists is Hypocrisy. May be they are worried as the section which has done such atrocities in the past still has the tendency to commit them just like they did it in Kashmir,Pakistan,Bangladesh. So they are just keeping the 1ndu masses in dark about the dangers to their existence and its continuation.

Tippu: No patriot
by Shobha Menon on Feb 04, 2014 06:13 PM  | Hide replies

Attempts are made to portray Tippu as a national hero just because he happened to fight the British for his own survival. He was fanatic and a merciless killer.Take the example of his Malabar campaign It was a saga of forced conversions ,wanton destructions of hindu temples and genocide of innocent and unsuspecting people of Malabar. They never had to face a ruthless invader like Tippu. Please donot worship him as a national hero.

Absolutely right. Tippu did it for own survival and dreamt of ruling the entire country like Akbar. Whatever he did to Temples was on the advice of Astrologers and other religious advisers only to fulfill his dream of becoming Badhsah of India and not for freedom of his subjects.

He wanted unfettered access to coastline for trade and expansion. We need to study about the Malayala kings and how they colluded with the British.

why britishers attacked tipu
by Udayasimha on Feb 04, 2014 05:30 PM  | Hide replies

a proxy war was fought by the imprisoned queen of the Mysore royal family against tipu. it was she who sent feelers to the British that tipu had joined forces with french which made Britishers insecure and hence started Anglo-Mysore war. during those days what mattered the most was to guard their own territory no matter who the enemy is. so painting this fanatic as the person who fought only against the Britishers is only political. Between if people have visited Srirangapatna, one can still see the small place where the true rulers of Mysore were holed up. Hyder and Tipu were usurpers just like Musharaff... They did not win a war against the incumbent ruler to get the throne, which was in vogue in those days more than 350 years..

nobody was a RANCHHOR. Kings fought bravely against the invading Muslim marauders. But they were not used to deception. most of the wars were won by deception. Alexander did not invade the Nanda dynasty just for the fear of elephants. a ruler who wanted to rule over the world was stopped for the first time at river sutlej. he had to return and died of wounds.. read it as war wounds in babylon. when this was the case with Alexander imagine the case of the other invaders who came to India. they had to conquer India through deception and not with might. same like how Pakistan is doing with India... and the rest followed suit and by the time Britishers arrived in India, it was all over.. India was already in the hands of other invaders.
